Music in the delivery room?
How many of you are planning on listening to your IPod or something similar while in labor?
BTDT- how many of you actually found that music helped you?

I don't know if I'll use it but I'm bringing my IPOD just in case I need it as a distraction.

Re: Music in the delivery room?
I packed my ipod and a cheapo set of speakers. I'm not sure if I'll care that I have it or not, but I figured it's small and labor can go on for a long time!

Re: Music in the delivery room?
with dd I actually brought my laptop and watch a movie (once I got the epidural) then I did have some music playing when it came time to push...the dr/nurses lowered it when the big moment was coming
it helped me....just bit of advice make sure you have music that motivates ya!

Re: Music in the delivery room?
i brought music, but honestly when it came time for pushing, i wouldn't have even heard it anyway with all the noise (enouragement, me yelling etc) that was going on.
i watched tv while i was there (had an epi, waited a long long day for ds to arrive) and that was enough.
but some people may find that music helps calm things down for them

Re: Music in the delivery room?
I had my IPOD with me but I never actually even took it out. I was only at the hospital 3 hours before DD was born. I labored at home a few hours before that but I was first laying on the couch watching wheel of fortune, then taking a shower and blowing out my hair. I had the playlist all ready to go, too.
I say: get it ready and see what happens! Especially if music motivates you and keeps you in good spirits when you're dealing with pain. There's no real downside!

i had a playlist on my ipod, but didn't get a chance to use it. i was only at the hospital for 3 hours by the time ds was born. as others said, i don't even think i would have heard it or been phased if it was on. i never turned on the tv in the room!

Re: Music in the delivery room?
The birthing suites at my hospital have radios/cd players....but I honestly think I wont even care enough to utilize them.
