Anyone lives in attached home?

How is the noise level? Do you hear your neighbors through the shared walls?

We are considering renting one and my husband claims that the noise penetration is as bad as in the apartment building, when you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Aren't the walls between house units thicker than the walls between apartments?

Re: Anyone lives in attached home?

I do.
I very very rarely hear my next door neighbors... if they are arguing, I might hear muffled voices but barely. I am lucky my neighbors are pretty quiet though.
Growing up, I also lived in an attached house & didn't hear much BUT the neighbor's dog had a high pitched bark & I'd hear it often through the walls.

I grew up in one. I never heard my neighbors talking but if they were playing music we would hear it. We were lucky because we had quiet neighbors on both sides. The lady whose house bordered my bedroom is a widowed older woman who lives alone so I never heard any noise unless she had people over. However, she had tenants who lived upstairs at one point who would argue loudly and we heard hear them all the time.

We have one. The only time I hear them is if they have the stereo on loud or if their one kid is having a tantrum.

Re: Anyone lives in attached home?

We live in one! I have SUPER quiet neighbors on both sides, I was way more worried about my dog and toddler disturbing THEM - but after we moved in I asked if they could hear us too much and they both said NO WAY. Chat Icon
We live in Queens and our block is all attached brick houses - very very solid and well insulated. So I'd say the construction of the house is the key kwim?

Re: Anyone lives in attached home?

I do. I have to say normally my neighbors are very quiet. But this year, one of them decided to re-do the whole house and the noise was INSANE.
