Venting.....
I am so ****** with my HR right now it's not funny!! A few months ago, she told me that I would be covered under disability for 12 weeks at 75% pay (non-taxed).
TODAY, I asked her to get that to me in writing (for my own info) and she tells me, no - I get 6 weeks at $170/wk taxable.
WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT?
While I find out that today's answer seems to be more correct - I am SO ****** that I was lead to believe something different. And I KNOW she told me the 75% because I took out supplemental insurance (AFLAC) for the remainining 25%. I didn't make that number up out of thin air!!
So, I am ****** and starting to get stressed that this is going to be incredibly difficult financially. I barely make my bills now - what will happen when I bring home less and have baby expenses?

I don't know what to say other than, "I'm sorry that you're stressing!" and what a crappy thing for your HR to do-they need to get the story straight from the beginning!

Honestly your HR person should be "reprimanded" for giving out incorrect financial information. Did you try talking to his/her supervisor? I'm sure there's nothing you can do, but giving out wrong information caused you to make bad decisions. Maybe they can help you find another way to supplement your income.

I should do this, but how can I prove it if I didn't get that in writing to being with?

its exactly the same for me. I asked what I could buy with the 170 ...they told me a tissue box to cry! I heard in other countries you get at least a yr home with your baby...thats so screwed up!
