how many cycles of clomid??
I have done 3 cycles of clomid with my OB, and since that didnt work, i'm going to an RE. my OB told me that I should only be doing a total of 6 cycles of clomid (between the OB and the RE).
Has only ever heard this before? Any reason why??

Yes, clomid can thin your lining over time. I used Femara instead.

i did 3 cycles with my obgyn where i took clomid and had timed intercourse. I would not continue with more cycles on clomid unless you are being monitored and know for a fact you respond to it because it does mess with your lining. i'm not sure what is the max amount of time you can be on clomid

What all of the PPs said.
Also, the majority of people who will get pregnant using Clomid have it happen by 4 cycles. After that, there's not a lot of evidence that continued use of Clomid helps lead to a pregnancy.

I did 4 cycles of clomid while ttc dd. Starting at 50mg and going to 200mg. DD was conviced on a back to back cycle of 150mg of clomid followed by 200mg and than an iui. For this pregnancy I did back to back 200mg cycles and than iui.
My RE was going to start me on injectables had the high levels of clomid not worked. Not sure about doing 6 cycles.

interesting...I didnt know that clomid thins the lining! I was monitored by my OB - bloodwork and sonos around ovulation. All showed that I was responding to the clomid.
My first RE appointment is in a few weeks - YAY!

Clomid does not thin everyone's lining. It's a side effect in some people, but not all.

I took clomid for 4 cycles and for me it caused cysts and lining of my lining...it doesnt happen to everyone but its something to be aware of and you should be monitored closely while taking clomid or any fertility medications.
