Anyone Still in School and Due in the Middle of the Semester?
What are you going to do about it?
DH and I have been going back and forth and I really don't want to lose a semester.
I thought I could just take night classes so he'd be home with the kids at night, but then he changed his mind. He doesn't want me walking around campus at night 9 months pregnant.
So I thought I'd take Saturday classes. Unfortunately I can only take one class due to the times the classes are offered.
I just got into the psychology program and I don't want them to re-think their decision.
DH really doesn't think I should be going at all. He made me feel bad about wanting to take more classes considering it took us so long to get pregnant. He was suggesting that maybe I wasn't happy that we were having another baby (which could not be further from the truth).
I was just wondering if any other mommy-to-bes are in the same boat.

would it be possible for you to just skip the entire semester and start up again in January?
good luck figuring out what you want to do with that

I mean, I guess I could, but I was just accepted into the psychology program and I don't know if they would hold my spot since there are so little spots avaiable.

Unless they let you somehow complete the rest of the semester from home, i can' think of too many other alternatives. sorry

I'm just starting my masters program and am in a similar situation. I work a full time job, teach dance classes at two studios and was registered for two classes. After getting my syllabi I realized I had 25 pages due the week before I was due myself (a week before the end of the semester.) I ended up dropping one and keeping the one with more homework but fewer large projects. I spoke to both professors in the beginning to explain my situation and both were very understanding. One seems to be a bit chauvinistic and very full of himself but said of course he could help manage the schedule depending on when the baby came.
If I were you I would try to take the Saturday course to prove that you are committed to the program but also speak to your advisor and the head of the department and explain the situation. They are all human and should be able to realize that there are other things you have to focus on at the moment. It's never going to be easy but this all helps make us stronger, blah blah blah. I have a feeling that if you register for the fall semester, you will end up missing too many classes. And most professors have an attendance policy. If I were you I would take the semester off and talk to an advisor at the school to let them know your situation and that you are serious about continuing with the program the following semester. My SIL tried making it through a semester when she was due in November. She ended up having the baby a couple weeks early so she wasn't fully prepared to miss classes yet. I'm pretty sure she ended up having to drop her classes because she had to miss so many classes due to having a C-Section and then her older kids got the flu, and by then she had fallen too behind on her classwork.
And btw, I"m not sure your school would be allowed to drop you from the program because you're pregnant. It's not like you chose to just take the semester off to relax or travel or something, kwim?

I'm not very worried about missing too many classes if I do the Saturdays b/c they start later and end earlier than the regular semester plus at most I'd only miss one class depending on what day of the week the baby comes. I've barely missed a day of any class in the last 5 semesters, so I don't plan on starting now. I figure I may be able to get the prof to give me assignments ahead of time as it gets closer to my due date so I don't fall behind.
Maybe they wouldn't "drop" me, but if I'm not involved in the program that leaves my spot open for someone else.

I am taking online classes right now, for my second masters and honestly I am so tired all of the time I can't keep up with the work that I am going to drop my classes and continue in January. I was supposed to graduate over the summer cause I only have 2 classes left. But this tiredness has completely taken over my life.
