Prenatal Pills- Folic Acid
I am not TTC yet but am considering it in the near future. when is a good time to start taking either the prenatals or a folic acid supplement?

my doctor said i can take them whenever i want. i ran out of my multi vitamin 3 months before ttc so i just picked up the prenatals and switched then.
go get some and start tomorrow if you want...they cant hurt.
I would go for the prenatals (not the folic acid supplement)...there are many more vitamins in the prenatal that you need - even more than if you take a normal multi vitamin.
i take the CVS with DHA supplement. I was told having 1000mg of folic acid is important and CVS was the closest thing i found (i believe its 975 or 50 of folic acid).

they are really good for you so I would start asap -- I like the Target brand prenatals - 2 pills (one is DHA) or the CVS brand (same deal 2 pills)

And I was told 800.

I started to take it when we were actively TTC. My ObGyn wrote me a script and it only cost $5 at the pharmacy for a 90 or 100 day supply (I can't remember).

It doesn't hurt to start taking them sooner than later - but definitely 3 months before you start TTC.
