First OB apt after RE ..
Well, he didnt do anything but talk to us. I was pissed. We waited an hour to get into the office. They took a urine sample and then told us they dont do ultrasounds in their office, I have to go to the hospital where Im going to deliver. Thats where they do them So dumb.
He did mention that since Im 36 years old I'll have to get screenings done. So hes sending me for a Materni-T blood exam. Its just bloodwork that has a 99% accurate screening for Downs instead of having an amnio or CVS done.
Has anyone heard of this/ had this done?
So all that time wasted to just have a meet and greet and not be able to see my LO :(
Im waiting now to get the appt from the hospital for the ultrasound which they said wont be for another 2 weeks. BOO.

Re: First OB apt after RE ..
Never heard of that test but just want to wish you luck. I agree that the biggest adjustment for me from the RE to the OB was the dramatic decrease in sonos. You go from having one everyday, to every other day, to 1x a week with your RE, to once a month if your lucky with your OB. Most of the time they just do one around 12 weeks if you do the NT scan, 20 weeks for the anatomy and then at 30 something weeks for the growth sono

Re: First OB apt after RE ..
That stinks that it was a sort-of waste of an appointment and that they need to send you to the hospital for a sono.
I've never heard of that Materni-T test either but I just googled it sounds like it's fairly new and pretty much replaces the need for amnios. One person who posted about it said that it just started being offered a few months ago and, as a result, sometimes insurance doesn't cover it so i'd check with yours before going.
Good luck!

Thank you! The dr was saying that insurance either covers it completely, or Id have to pay like $500 out of pocket or if they dont cover its like $2K.

They have a sono but not an ultrasound I think they said? They said they start sonos at my 16 week appt.
Im 10 weeks 2 days. The NT scan is the ultrasound they are sending me to the hospital to have done at their OB office there.

If they are able to do one in office at 16 weeks why don't they do one at the first visit? I've never heard of a doc not doing a sono at a first visit. Even though you've been seeing an RE I would think that your OB would like to date the pregnancy.

They said after the first trimester they start doing them but for the screenings in the beginning everything is done at their place at the hospital.
