Homeowners insurance?
Just got a quote of $1900/year. I know there's many variables, but is this average? Or an idea of what others pay?

Re: Homeowners insurance?
That seems high unless you have a multi-family home and have other add-ons like flood insurance.
My guess is avg 500-1000.
I have a 2200 SF framed house detached house with 2 car detached garage and it cost me just under 700/yr. in basic insurance.

Re: Homeowners insurance?
Thanks all! Got a new quote from State Farm and it is substantially less. So clearly, going with Geico is out!

my hubby put it best, "have you ever seen a geico homeowners commercial?"
no.
being that they don't advertise, they probably broker out the policies, making them expensive!

Re: Homeowners insurance?
Yeah, I think Geico does homeowners through Travelers. We are with Liberty Mutual at about 975/year.

Re: Homeowners insurance?
We pay around 900 a year we were having a very hard time getting insurance initially because of some issues but then we went to an insurance agency (reccomended by BETH, actually) and they were great. They can can shop rates for you and they wound up getting us a better rate on car insurance actually.

Re: Homeowners insurance?
Mine is $1200 for a 1550sq ft split. No pool or finished basement through Mercury. Mine also seems high compared to everyone else's quotes
