We're at 6 months and I'm just tired. Bc of my age - they are giving me 9 months TTC b4 we start all the testing.

My Dr. said 1st he gets a SA (which you already did)

Then blood work on me FSA (which i did already last year), also I have thyroid problems so they are going to make sure that's still good

Draw blood at different times of my cycle to check hormone levels, Ovulation, etc, etc.

Test to make sure my tubes aren't blocked anywhere

Post Coital test (which i hear is pretty embarrassing) but you do what you gotta do! To check to make sure the sperm are living in your CM and it isn't killing them

That's as much as she told me when I went for my annual a few weeks ago.

As of May, if we still aren't pg the tests begin.

I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow.

As for questions... no question is stupid. Ask anything and everything!!

i know how hard it is

if his sa was normal and you ovulate that is always a positive...sometimes it just takes that little bit extra like clomid or a iui..

it is good you are going to the doctor,if u r seeing a ob i would ask for a specilaist's info

as for what she will do it will depend where you are in your cycle but i would think they would draw blood

what cd are you

Re: 1 year appt tomorrow

You can get the basic testing done with your gyno but personally, I'd go straight to an RE ASAP. S/he will probably want to run their own tests so might as well get it all started there.

You'll need blood work early in your cycle and late, as well as a mid-cycle ultrasound. Then depending on results, you may need more testing, especially if you're going to start a protocol. So again, I'd find an RE you're comfortable with and start there.

It's definitely not easy, but for us, knowing we're getting help at least feels like we're moving in the right direction.

GL!

Re: 1 year appt tomorrow

You are not alone. I have been trying for over 14 months now. I got the same advise from my ob. Wait a year then come back. I am a rule follower so I did. I wish I hadn't. I went to an RE after my OB had my husband do a SA and gave me a prescription for a day 3 FSH which were both normal. I decided on my own to go see an RE when the OB told me to "keep trying". I've already had an HSG (to check for tube blockage), another SA for hubby, bloodwork, sonograms, and on my second cycle of IUI with Clomid. Unexplained infertility but at least we have moved passed the "keep trying" phase. After 1 more IUI if it doesn't work, going to IVF. At least for me, knowing I have an actual plan of action has helped. Good luck in your journey!

I'm sorry your going through this. I know how you feel, we're on month 14 and I can't help but feel like such a failure. But it's great your going to take the next step, and the fact tht your DH has great #s. Hopefully it's just something simple like taking medication. Keeping my fingers crossed for you Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

THANK YOU ladies for all of your kind and helpful responses Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It really did make me feel better. I went to my appt, and I feel very hopeful once again. You ladies were right on point. My obgyn said, blood work and then an HSG, she gave me prescriptions for both today. I'm on CD 23 today and she said bloodwork has to be done on cd 3, so I don't have too wait long for testing to begin. I wish you all the best of luck on your ttc journey, hopefully we will all be in touch again with good news Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I totally agree about not waiting a year. Sometimes, you really can have something wrong with you or your husband and not know it. If you are using a fertility monitor and not getting pregnant, just go to an RE.
