How long do you stay in the hospital for a vaginal birth?

Just curious. I'm assuming this will be the case for me since all has been going well so far.
I am getting my hospital bag ready and am contemplating putting all my stuff in a small carry on suitcase, since the duffle bags I own aren't that big. Will I look like a crazy person wheeling in a suitcase??? Chat Icon Chat Icon

At north sho it's 2 nights for vaginal starting from when the baby is actually born. So if baby comes at 10pm that's your first night

For a vaginal birth insurance companies usually cover two nights. I got to the hospital at 6am on Monday, had DS a little after 9pm that night and was allowed to stay until 11:59pm on Wednesday. If I had DS after midnight (early Tuesday morning) I.would have been allowed to stay until 11:59pm on Thursday.

Usually two nights

I got to hospital at 1pm on a Thursday and delivered DS at 1027pm. I didn't get into a room after delivery until about 1230am which is considered my first night. I was discharged from hospital Saturday afternoon.
If DS would of been born at 12am instead of 1027pm, then I would of been in hospital till Sunday.

Oh and I brought a small suitcase last time and will be doing the same this time. It is such a small case and doesn't hold much.

I think all hospitals are 2 nights for vaginal delivery. It is what your insurance company will cover. If there is issues, then they would cover more days.
I think it is 4 nights for C-section.

It is 2 nights......

at winthrop ds came at 12:30 AM, so technically I slept the rest of the night, then had the next two nights.

I think its this. I checked out my benefits online and they were very specific about 48 hours for a vaginal delivery and 96 hours for a c-section, unless there are complications.

I really only stayed in the hospital one night. I had DD at 2:03am on a Saturday morning, but didn't get into my room until almost 5am. Then I stayed overnight on Saturday and I went home on Sunday.
