Is PIO that bad?

I'm not sure I can do these sups. They wan me doing sups and crinone 20 mins apart. Well it's as bad as you can imagine. It all falls out. The sup crumbles and melts and is pretty much pointless

So is PIO that bad with the itchy hiney welts and all? Does it hurt?

Honestly.. I had the choice, and I chose the PIO!!! I know I posted complaining, etc. but it's really not THAT bad... and once I started heating the area beforehand instead of icing, it helped a ton!

Do you sit on a heating pad? Or use a bottle of hot water? I'm just picturing having itchy but cheek welts at the grocery store. Lol

i would pretty much choose anything over PIO. id rather drip all day and have to buy stock in pantyliners then have my a$$ itch and hurt and bleed for months (yes it's like that even after you stop).

ps- i used ice before and a heating pad after.

Re: Is PIO that bad?

I had a heating pad... I put it on my butt for a few mins before doing PIO ... and then after I lay on it for like 10 mins, making sure it covers the area that was just injected.

It's much easier to have your DH do it than to do it to yourself.. Is he ok with needles?

Honestly, your butt may get a little itchy, but I have a feeling whatever you're imagining is much worse than what it would really feel like!!

ETA: I used to ice beforehand, but I found it was better using heat because PIO is an oil. By using heat beforehand, the oil doesn't clump. I got much fewer welts that way, thanks to the suggestion of many ladies on here!!

He's usually not ok with them but he just offered to do my got awful generic lovenox because I'm her in tears trying to stick myself 10 times and the cheap asss generic needle won't go in. I swear the has to be an easier way for this crap. I just emailed my nurse to ask her to call my ins and tell them to stop being cheap and making me suffer with generic lovenox with it's blunt needles and excruciating hour of burning. They better give me the real one!

The trouble with the sups is that it like ALL came out. I'm not getting anything at all. Nothing stays in. At least crinone stays in somewhat.

Honestly PIO is not fun. DH did them for me this last time and i found the more you do the more it hurts. I didnt ice or heat but found lying down was best for me. I still have pain where the shots were done but I hear this goes away with time. You could always try one and switch if you want. My suggestion do the shots first.

Good luck

I was on PIO up until like 11 weeks. It isn't that bad. I literally just laid on the couch and let DH do it. I didn't ice or heat. If the muscles are relaxed, it isn't bad at all. Chat Icon

Re: Is PIO that bad?

For me, PIO isnt bad at all. I ice it before DH does the injecting. Then DH massages it for me for a minute to warm up the area and then I sit on a heating pad for a few minutes. Its really not bad. Ive gotten a few bumps from it but it goes away and it doesnt hurt.

Good luck!!!

Does it like.. come out whole?

I'm trying to think. .. With all my transfers, I was on PIO and e2v supps.. they leaked a ton- but it didn't effect my hormone levels, etc.. still got pregnant.

With my first baby through IUI, I was just on Crinone, it leaked like a bitchh Chat Icon but I still got pregnant ..

I was told your body still absorbs what it needs to - although if yours is coming out whole, I'd call and ask.

A little TMI .. but make sure you push it up the absolute furthest it can go!!

Re: Is PIO that bad?

I think "leaking" is normal. Did the RE say that you're not absorbing it? He can tell from your levels? To my knowledge, PIO is the only that'll show up in blood.
If I had to choose I would stay with the supps, unless you're having issues with the amount of progesterone and need more. PIO is just a PIA literally!

Re: Is PIO that bad?

I hated PIO, but it helped to get me pregnant, so for that reason, every night spent icing, being jabbed with a needle, and laying on a heating pad was well worth it! I whined about it then, but at this point, it's just a vague memory (aside from the stupid bruises that I still have 13+ weeks after stopping it!)
