need help!

How do I tactfully tell my friend's mother that I don't want to buy her house. She is offering it to me and DH at a great price but we don't want to live in her neighborhood. It's not the nicest. I don't want to hurt her feelings. Any advice?

I would just say something like we were looking to be closer to X area or closer to our jobs , etc
or even that the layout is not exactly what you were looking for.

Just because she's offering it to you at a great price doesnt automatically make it the house for you, so Im sure she'd understand.

Re: need help!

No need to make her feel bad..

I would simply state that even though her house is lovely and you appreciate her very generous offer, you would like to pursue some other homes.

unfortunately she knows that we are looking in the roundabout areas but just not her area. that's what i think might offend her.
