oh when do you find out the sex? maybe it's a boy this time...
It would be so great if it's a boy...
boy... boy... boy....
So since we already have a girl everyone assumes that we want and need to have a boy.
I am just so tired of it I can't even tell you, starting with my MIL and my mom ending with one of my friends who is the only friend who knows about the pregnancy.
Why can't people understand that to some people it DOES NOT MATTER! Especially to us and considering what happened last time.
We don't care as long as this pregnancy goes well and the baby is healthy and happy, it doesn't matter if we have a boy or a girl, we don't even want to find out, but we will only because we are not very patient people and just to better prepare ourselves.
The worst was when I told my MIL that we got the results from a D&C and it was a girl, she said "well, maybe this one is a boy" I mean REALLY woman?! really???
I just can't ....

sorry , just needed to vent a bit this morning, been keeping it inside foe couple of weeks ... now I feel better (I think)

I understand what you mean... we are expecting two more boys in the spring and we already have DS. SO many people expect us to "try for a girl". It's disheartening really - kind of like, "what? you won't love these boys like you would if we had a girl?"

As for your MIL, I have no words. :(

exactly! I feel like if we have a girl it won't be as exciting and she won't be as loved as if we had a boy, I know it sounds silly, but that's how I feel sometimes.

I even got a comment the other day "oh wouldn't it be so cute if you have a boy and he is blond with blue eyes like your DH?" I wanted to poke the persons eyes out ! I don't know what is wrong with some people...

When I was pg with my first dd, we were Chat Icon My mil was convinced it was a boy. And was almost depressed about it. She has 3 boys, and wanted a girl. Would go so far as to say that the baby she lost was a girl. Ident know how true that is, but whatever.

She was thrilled when dd was bornand would tell everyone that she didn't care what it was soloing as it was healthy. I got tired of calling her on it, honestly.

It sucks that some people get so caught up on the sex of your baby.

Ah, yes. I would get those comments aaaalll the time with my last pregnancy because I already had two girls. To be honest, it didn't bother me too much--people are just trying to make conversation I think. The only time I actually Chat Icon is when a complete stranger called out "I hope it's a boy!" to me. I'm thinking, 'What do you care?' Chat Icon And then the only time it actually did bother me was after my 3rd pregnancy which ended in a m/c...my friend said, "Maybe God wanted you to have a boy." Ummmm...what if that WAS a boy?

Look, people are going to be happy and excited regardless of the sex, so if you really don't have any gender preference, simply smile and say "Maybe!" Chat Icon the next time someone wonders if it might be a boy.

Haha! That is almost EXACTLY like my MIL. She had three sons, and at that time five grandsons (no girls at all), but she made no secret of the fact she wanted a girl. In fact, she was hoping my third kid would be a third girl! Aaaaand...she had a miscarriage between her 2nd and 3rd (my DH Chat Icon ) and claims that it was her girl...

Re: I can't stand comments like

it grates on my nerves too.

I have two boys and PG w/ #2. Of course I would love a girl. But I would also love a boy too.

I just feel so much pressure and if we do find out it is a boy I don't want people to be dissapointed or feel sorry for me. It's a baby for crying out loud.

Re: I can't stand comments like

People are so insensitive and to be honest I am done with playing nice...if someone says something totally inappropriate and rude I will right there and then call them on it. When I was pregnant with #2 everyone was saying the same as they were saying to you"oh I hope its a boy"..we already had a DD...then when DS was born we were told we had the "perfect" family....whatever that is....

Its like now I am pregnant with #3 and as no one around me knows I am getting comments from other moms along the lines of "aren't you glad you are done with all that baby stuff" etc etc and I kind of smile and say "maybe" and they are horrified!!! I cannot wait to announce my pregnancy and god help anyone who gives me a snotty comment.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm really not the kind of person to get upset and annoyed very easily over silly comments, I just let them go ... but I just got fed up. MIL and my mom won't let it go . They keep asking when do you find out the sex? Do you think you'll find out the sex at the NT scan? Do you think you can ask the dr to guess? Oh I hope it's a boy this time.....

I just cant...

I remember when I was pregnant with DD my MIL was convinced it was going to be a boy. And I'll never forget her face when we told her it's a girl, she looked so disappointed , broke my heart, Then she went on to say "I'll be honest , I'm surprised, since we have mostly boys in the family"

Don't get me wrong, my MIL is crazy about DD , but ...

Re: I can't stand comments like

I have a boy and EVERYONEEEEEEE kept saying, oh maybe you'll get your girl this time! I hope it's a girl! I bet you want a girl right? etc etc etc.

I was a little annoyed because as much as I thought I WOULD want a girl, I very much didn't care this time and wanted just a healthy baby. Maybe because I flash back to having an early preemie and what could have happened, that I really just want to have a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby.

Also, I was team green with my first and EVERYONE (except my dad and FIL) thought it was a girl. They almost had me convinced! It got to be annoying after a while and when I gave birth and we announced it was a boy, I didn't want anyone to feel any kind of disappointment. Everyone was happy though, but this time I didn't want people to think it was a girl right off the bat (which most everyone did anyway).

Turns out this baby IS a girl and I'm thrilled, just as I would have been if she were a boy. I'm happy to know in advance so I don't have to hear anybody's mouth anymore Chat Icon For some reason this pregnancy it was annoying the everloving crap out of me (my friend said it was probably the extra estrogen in my body Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon).

Re: I can't stand comments like

We had the same thing. I have a DS and everyone kept saying they hope it is a girl. I would be lying if I said there wasn't a small part of me that wants a girl, but I would be thrilled either way. I had a lot of difficulty getting pregnant with my DS and am just so happy that we did not have difficulty this time around. Now that we found out that it is a girl, we keep getting comments like"now you have the perfect family" or "a boy and a girl-now you are done"-umm, I was done no matter what. I planned on retiring my uterus after baby #2 no matter what the sex of the baby was. People...*sigh*

OMG Yes---I have a DS and now am expecting a DD and I cannot tell you how many times I have heard - "oh now the set is complete" or "so you don't need to have any more" or "you have a pair"....people just need to shut up

Re: I can't stand comments like

Try not to pay attention to silly comments, sometimes people just say stuff and don't really mean anything bad by it. I do understand your frustration though. I have a DD. was pregnant few months ago and had a m/c but my mom, my dad and my mil couldn't wait to find out the sex, I know they were all hoping for a boy. I honestly didn't care and don't care what we have next (even though everyone who knows me knows that I'd be happy to have all girls, lol, but honestly I REALLY don't care) as long as baby is healthy. DH doesn't care either, but I guess some people do.
Good luck and hang in there
