1st anniversary Trip

DH and I are trying to plan a weekend getaway for our first anniversary

we're thinking of:

1) New Orleans
2) Chicago

does anyone know any hotel recommendations for these cities and things to do?

For New Orleans, I always recommend the Omni Royal Orleans on St. Louis. It's a beautiful hotel and is about a block away from Bourbon Street so it's close to the action but quiet.

I have never been to Chicago but here's a thread I saved because it's on my list of places to visit.

I just wanted to mention the weather in New Orleans. My first visit was in the beginning of June and it was brutally hot & humid. I can remember like yesterday standing in front of a store with the A/C pouring out, under the awning (shade), drinking a frozen drink and sweating.

DH and I loved chicago, we went for a long weekend. We stayed at a hotel along michigan ave (magnificent mile). we didnt even need a car b/c we took a train from o'hare that took us right into the city. we walked all around the area, went up the john hancock tower, went to a few museums, ate chicago deep dish pizza, went to navy pier... was a fun time!
