I know this is horrible of me but....
My co-worker just announced that his wife is 12 weeks pregnant, this is their 2nd child. I am super annoyed b/c this is the type of guy that uses all of his PERSONAL issues as a crutch at work, to "work" from home (but does nothing all day!), leave early, take undocumented days off and he plays into our female boss' sympathy. I am happy for him and his wife as far as the pregnancy but I am miserable at all of the "me me ME" attention this guy is going to be seeking over the next 6 or 7 months. He does this b/c he knows our boss has been trying to get pregnant for two years, so he knows she'll be sympathetic. Does that sound horribly bitchy of me??? I can't help but feel annoyed today
and I realize this all sounds horribly bitter of me, but the truth is everyone in our department feels this way and our boss is the only one who doesn't see him as the opportunist that he is! I just hope if I wind up w/ a bfp soon he doesn't think he can dole out unsolicited advice to me!! (he does that w/ any expectant parents in our office lol)

Re: I know this is horrible of me but....
i think you answered your own question....you are not being bitchy at all...everyone sees this about him, not just you!
and regardless if you were ttc or not, remind yourself that this would be totally unacceptable either way! I get that you think you might be a little bit more sensitive because of the pregnancy but honestly, don't be hard on yourself...let yourself be angry! you have every right to be!

Re: I know this is horrible of me but....
ehhhhh being the mom of a 21 month old, i see both sides. its HARD when you get a call from daycare at 3pm that your child is running a fever and needs to be picked up.
then you need to bring them to the Ped first thing in at am because 8:40 is the only appt they have making you 1.5 hours late.
i get it - its hard hearing it but its hard having to take the time too. I feel guilty but really, what is the other option? KWIM?
you will be there soon enough i pray

thanks! I hope so too!! He actually doesn't use his child as an excuse as much as other things....this guy is a professional "work shirker" it just stinks that our boss does not apply the working from home principles to everyone evenly in the office (she's never given me a problem but other people she does, and they're responsible people so it's kind of baffling!)
oh and I should add this is also someone who was recently given a raise b/c he complained to the sympathetic boss that he couldn't afford the house he wanted, see that's the difference I get upset on behalf of other people in our department who I know are going through things outside of work but decide to leave personal issues outside of the workplace. I guess they should be just as vocal with our boss, but I feel like sometimes that's not the best way to go to put all your business out there. Eh, I guess I'm just a different kind of person in the workplace than he is!
