How does RE know when to do IUI?
How does the RE determine when to do the IUI? A few months ago I had bloodwork to confirm O, but I haven't had success with OPK's. I'm going to the RE at the end of the week. Based on my plan I believe I'm only scheduled for 1 appointment for monitoring and then the next appointment is the IUI.

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
Mine was an unmedicated IUI so he told me to come in when i got a positive OPK. I went in the next day for the IUI, he did a sono and confirmed that my follie collapsed.
ETA: for medicated its different because you have to be monitored and then most liklely given a trigger so they know exactly when you should come in.

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
Mine will be unmedicated as well. My concern is that I rarely get a positive reading with OPK's.

Definitely tell them that, they should have more monitoring appts for you and would most likely give you the trigger shot.

i agree, if you rarely get a positive OPK then they should definitely monitor you often to confirm that you are O'ing

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
with me, i wasn't getting positive OPK's, so I would go in to get monitored and when the lead follies were big enough, I would take an HCG trigger and do the IUI the next day (this was the place I went to, some places do it 24 hours after and others 36 hours after)

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
Thanks. I'll check with my RE. How often did you go in to get monitored?

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
first monitoring appt was CD 3, then I would take clomid from CD 3-7, then go back in on CD 10. Depending on how big the follies were then, I'd either come back like CD 12 or later like CD 15.. it varied from cycle to cycle. Good luck!

I'm going back on CD11. To monitor to do they just do an internal or do they do bloodwork too?

This is exactly what happened with me. For the first week I went oon CD 3 for monitoring, then CD 10, then every couple of days based on the size of my follicles.

Re: How does RE know when to do IUI?
i agree, you should definately let them know that you never get any positive on your OPK's and they should do some blood work to find out if you are O'ing
