Start of a new cycle...
so yesterday I went to the RE since AF started and I am on 5mg of femara for 5 days and I go back next friday for an u/s...what was a bit different was they did not take any blood...I took a reg urine pregnancy test and the u/s...when I went to RSNY they took CD 3 blood...I totally forgot to ask but shouldnt they be taking blood plus the u/s?
Also I was told with the femara you cant take the pills together...they should be taken spaced apart...anyone else have to do that???

Re: Start of a new cycle...
RSofNY did a lot more testing than other REs I've been too, which was sometimes better and sometimes a waste.
However, it would seem that your baseline estrogen and FSH would be pretty important at the outset of any cycle. Every RE has done this. Most of them have not done the day 3 u/s. They all did blood beta vs. urine test, but I guess every doctor is different.
When I took femara I took it once a day at night for the 5 days.

Re: Start of a new cycle...
I would think if you are doing any kind of medicated cycle, you should have your blood drawn to check levels. If it is a natural cycle, I don't think it matters much, but it does if you are starting meds, as if the levels are a bit off, it might not be ideal to start the medication.

Re: Start of a new cycle...
Yea I asked the question about taking them together and he said it was different than clomid...I think the half-life of femara is much shorter...
I called about the femara and I was told since the medication was not strong like injectables there would not be a need for bloodwork...they only monitor clomid/femara cycles with u/s...a little strange but I guess every doctor is different???
