Here we go again... new cycle..

So after 2 failed fresh IVFs and one failed FET in the last 8 months, I felt that it was time to move on with a new RE. I feel really badly about this and I literally feel like I'm cheating on my RE. I LOVED the clinic I was going to and felt so comfortable there, nurses are amazing etc, but my Dr. didn't have any new protocol in mind after last failed fresh cycle - I waited 3 weeks to see him to review our next steps and all he said was "ok I'm not sure why this cycle didn't work, but let's do an FET now." I was NOT happy with this and I actually felt awful- I had no hope and I cried during the appt because I was so frustrated. There were also things that happened during my last two transfers that were not explained to me- like the fact that my cervix was difficult and the transfer did not go smoothly. This apparently can decrease the success rate of the cycle. He basically had no answers... my embies were great quality.

I took a recommendation from a friend and set up a consult with a new RE. I LOVE her and I feel like she listens to me, answers my questions and is going to try some different things than my other dr did. I feel so uncomfortable though because my first RE had to sign off on the records so they could be released. I know I'm probably being stupid and I shouldn't care about offending my first RE... I needed to do this.. right? I still have 3 frosties there and not sure what to do with those...

I'm starting stims for my 3rd IVF tonight and I have zero expectations... I feel like a cranky jaded old lady by now

Your RE's goal is to get you pregnant. If they weren't able to, they shouldn't be at all offended that you are looking elsewhere!! Remember, you're not looking for a best friend, you're looking for the doctor who will get you your baby so you could have your family and get on with your life....


I am sure they are used to patients moving through their office.. getting opinions from other places.. etc... It's the nature of the type of practice they are.

By going somewhere else, you're not saying something personally against your last doctor... You're just doing what's good for yourself. It's hard enough making the right decisions for you and you DH ... you can't worry about your doctor's feelings in this as well! I think a fresh set of eyes is a great idea!!

i agree with pennycat! you're in the business of getting pregnant, not making a bff. the doctors are accustomed to this anyway.

Thank you! Good luck to all of you too :) Why is it that this is my third cycle doing Gonal F and Menopur yet I still have to make my DH watch me do it? Maybe I mentally blocked it out ;)

At least I'm only on 2 menopur vials, this time, not 4!!!!
