Rust-Oleum makes a spray paint for metal.

That white color will fade once it gets above freezing.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If it's metal, there is plenty of paints out there designed for metal. If it's plastic, there are also many types of paint for that.

I would take if off the post Saturday after the mail delivery, paint it, then let it dry most of Sunday. You can put it back Sunday evening, so it's ready for mail on Monday. Most spray paints need an hour to dry, then 12-24 hours to fully cure.

Re: painting this mailbox?

Also, just check on the cost of a new mailbox.
A new box is $20 plus or minus
A can of paint is $4-$7, plus labor. It's much faster and easier to just swap the boxes, but it's cheaper to repaint it, and you could do a color other than black or white.
