I don't know what to think ~ with update ~

Please don't quote....I went for my first sono today. The dr wanted me to come in because I had been feeling pain on my right side so thy wanted to check for an ectopic. They found a cyst, so I guess that's what the pain is. But they couldn't find anything in my uterus. I O'd late I think so it's possible I'm only 4 1/2 or 5 weeks but it still makes me nervous. The dr said we should at least be able to see the sac by now. So basically since they couldn't find anything but the cyst they can't rule out an ectopic and the dr said its possible that it's not a good pregnancy and that I could lose it. She sent me for bloodwork today an again 2 days from now to see if my hcg levels are rising and I have to go for another sono next week. In the meantime I'm freaking out because I have no idea what's going on inside of me. I'm praying that it was just too early to see anything. It was so scary to see nothing on the sono screen

Update:
So I got my bloodwork results and my hcg level doubled after 2 days from 3000 to 6000. The nurse who called me didn't give me any more info, but does that sound like a good sign? Does anyone know if the numbers would go up like that if it was ectopic? I'm so anxious for my sono appt next Thursday. I'm praying they'll find a healthy embryo in my uterus.

That happened to me. They didn't see my baby, I was 5 weeks at the time. I freaked out, but all was good, and now I have a 2 year old girl.

Let me share my story and I know it will make you feel better and give you hope.

If you go on my past posts you'll see that I was in your shoes just a couple of weeks ago. I got a positive pregnancy. Went for my first visit at 4 weeks and 6 days, just to confirm everything . When it was time for sonogram the dr said "I am going to do an ultrasound , but don't freak out if I don't see anything because I don't expect to really see anything" then he also said that he would be more surprised to see something than not to . so long story short , he did not see anything. But he again assured me it's too early and NOTHING to worry about. Then few days later I started having pain on my right side, they sent me in for an emergency ultrasound to rule out an ectopic, this was at 5 weeks 2 days. They did rule out an ectopic pregnancy , but they still didn't see much, just a sac, nothing else. Told me to go back in 10 days and we heard a strong heartbeat last Fri. and again today
So please try not to worry and stress too much , it's still very early.

if you are only 5w or earlier its def possible that everything is fine and that they didnt see anything. there's really nothing to see that early.

I don't have any experience to share but I have heard this SO MANY TIMES on this board in the last 8 months. My OB doesn't do sonos until 8-9 weeks and this is the reason! I guess it is sometimes hard to see anything at 4-5 weeks! I would try not to let it worry you too much. I think this early on your bloodwork is a better indicator of how things are going. I know it is easier said then done. Hang in there!

Most OBGYNs won't even see you till 6 or even 8 weeks. The only reason I went so early was because I had a mc before this and they wanted to start monitoring everything early.

thanks for all the support ladies!!! It makes me feel a little better to know it might have just been too early to see anything. My bloodwork confirmed I"m pregnant and hopefully the hcg level will double when I get it checked again tomorrow. According to the doctor that would be a good sign.

That sounds like an amazing update! I dont know anything about etopic pregnancies but its def. a great sign that your numbers are doubling

I don't have any experience with molar pregnancies- but I have read about them. A high early HCG number which is rising fast can be an indication of a molar pregnancy (or multiples). I really hope a molar preg is not the case for you, but with an HCG of 3,000 you would have seen a sac and yolk, or 2 sacs if it was twins (but maybe not for multiples).

Again, I hope I'm wrong and just mis-informed. Praying for you!!!
