If you've done an unmedicated IUI cycle.

Was it your choice for it to be unmedicated?

My RE does not want me on injectables (which is how I conceived my DS), she wants to monitor my natural cycles. Before I had my DS, I never got AF and never O'd. I got my 1st pp AF at 12pp, miraculously O'd on my own on CD33, did TI and got a BFN. If my cycles are going to be 49 days long like this cycle, would my RE just go with it or intervene to make me O sooner? What has your RE done? They want me back on CD11 to see what my levels are so they can better judge when I will O. Will they reevaluate the unmedicated thing at that point? Any info you could share would be very much appreciated!!

Thanks! Chat Icon

I did but i dont have any O issues. So i understand why mine arent medicated. If youre not producing any follies by CD11 maybe they will start you on something?

I really hope so!! I didn't get to speak with my RE, I spoke with the head nurse (whom I do not like lol). When I asked her if they would reevulate the med situation at CD11, she gave me one of those half-smirks and said "We'll see what happens then, ok honey?!" Chat Icon

Usually when they monitor an unmedicated cycle where ovulatory dysfunction is at play, they do trigger. But the timing of the trigger is based on when the egg matures, which is determined by its size and the amount of estrogen its throwing off. Everybody is different, so I don't know at what point in your cycle your egg is becoming mature.

Also remember that you need to be your own advocate in this business. When you want to get more aggressive, you call the shots. But I don't know how long you've been at this. Maybe the doctor wants to get some data on your cycles before jumping into medication. That makes sense.

I also think you need to be comfortable and have confidence in your doctor and the practice, which, honestly, sounds like it might be lacking.

Thank you!! That makes a lot of sense. I'm sure she just wants to understand my cycles now. It was very cut and dry when I was TTC #1 bc I did not have anything going on at all. Now my PP cycles seem to be different, so she wants to take her time and see what happens. I guess I'm just anxious and the thought of waiting to O on CD33+ every cycle is just going to make this whole process more frustrating. I trust my RE, so I guess I should just have faith that she will do the right thing! It's just so hard! Thanks again!
