Starting Provera & Clomid
I went to the Dr yesterday. After about a month on metformin, I still haven't gotten a period. I went to the Dr yesterday and she upped my dose and put me on provera. I'm supposed to take it once a day until I bleed (CD1) and then stop. Then on CD3, go for a sonogram to make sure I have no cysts. Then, start clomid CD5 and then use OPK to see if I ovulate.
This is my first time doing this -- so....I have a few questions -->
1. Does this sound right? I'm always afraid I'm mixing up information... 2. Has anyone been on these medications and if so, do you have any suggestions/advice?
Thanks!

Re: Starting Provera & Clomid
I don't know about the provera but with the clomid I went in for a sono on CD3 and they had me take the clomid from CD3-CD9.. but I've read about girls starting it ong CD5.. so what you're saying sounds right.

Re: Starting Provera & Clomid
sounds right to me..just be prepared for some the provera can take a bit to work..i did not get af until about a week after i took the last pill
u will take clomid from cd 5-9
i dk a whole lot aboutusing ops with it bc i do not ovulate and clomid did nothing for me
do u have PCOS? i am surprised u r not doing a trigger shot
did they mention sonos and blood in between..i hate when docs give clomid and then say come back when u ovulate..
as for side effects all i had was hot flashes on comid
good luck!

Re: Starting Provera & Clomid
Sounds right. I dunno about provera but my gyn started me on clomid with this past cycle. I had to call the office on cd1, schedule a sono prior to day 5, clomid cd5-9... they want to see u typically around day 12-13 for a sono (mine was cd11 just bc of how scheduling fell) - i used opks and then they want bloodwork about 7 days from when u O'd.

Re: Starting Provera & Clomid
You usually take 10mg of provera for 5 days and it can take up to a week for you to get your period...you can start clomid between CD3-5...I would not rely on opk's for ovulation...they should be monitoring you with blood & sonos to see when you will likely ovulate based on your estrogen levels and follie size...if you ovulate on your own they may not give you a trigger but I requested it since I want to time ovulation so its not missed...what dosage are you on for metformin?

Re: Starting Provera & Clomid
Thanks for all the advice -- I didn't remember her saying anything about coming in for another sonogram after CD3. I didn't hear anything about blood work either. I do have PCOS.
I take 3 500mg pills of Metformin daily.

i am going to assume this is by a ob not a RE?
IMO...if u have PCOS go see a RE ..u r not being monitored properly on clomid
i have been there..i was nto either..that is when i left my ob
