another UPDATE -one more ridiculous thing to add to the list..kind of embarassing
BUT.....I just googled it and apparently I am not alone, so perhaps some of you are experiencing the same thing..and if you aren't, no judgement please..lol....
WEIRD SMELL CRAVINGS!!!
(such as: Irish Spring Soap, 409 cleaner, gasoline, sharpie marker, nail polish, white out etc. )
Don't worry ladies!!!!! I assure you that I am not huffing these things, but I gotta tell you when I get a whiff of them I nearly swoon!!!
Is this some sort of deficiency thing?
Update: I CANNOT BELIEVE how many other pregnant women I have encountered who have stated that they have the same thing! Of course, all the cravings are different (whether it be for Pin Sol or gasoline or laundry detergent, etc) its all the same idea and most have had iron deficiencies as well.
The human body in reaction to pregnancy never ceases to amaze me with its oddness...
I have been taking my iron and folic acid supplements per the doc's orders (in addition to my prenatal) but still am CRAVING the smell of Irish Spring like nobody's business...maybe I am just strange

really, those smell good to you? I normally like the smell of those things... but since getting pregnant they all make me sick now. especially dry erase markers. ugh.

In the beginning I am not sure...but as of the last two weeks they smell awesome.

It can be normal, like a Pica disease where people want to eat strange things. Tell your dr and have them run an iron test on you

my husband has said that when I'm in the hospital he's ripping every Glade Plug-in out of the walls and throwing them out! I am obssessed with the "clean" smell.

So...
I get to the doctor last night and before I can even tell her anything she tells me that while my glucose test was fine, they saw that my iron is low so I have to start taking a supplement!
I am not crazy afterall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to say that is a symptom of low iron... I craved crushed ice for months and that was because of low iron... It is weird what our bodies go through...
