Ugh telling FIL just got ruined
Please don't quote.
We didn't want to tell anyone since I'm so early and haven't even seen the dr. yet. But we have to go to a funeral for someone on DHs side and I didn't want to go in the limo because of morning sickness. I would just feel more comfortable riding in DHs car in case i need him to pull over. So DH told his dad we'll just meet them at the cemetery but his dad was giving us a really hard time. So DH and I didn't want to come off looking like jerks so we felt we had no choice to explain why I couldn't go in the limo. His dad was happy, of course, but what a sucky way to share this news. And we made him promise not to tell anyone but he seemed like he really wants to tell everyone, so now I'm nervous he's going to spill.
I just feel so bad that we didn't get to tell him in a more special way. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Ugh telling FIL just got ruined
When I found out I was pregnant, I started thinking of cute ways to tell my family. Three days later, my father called to tell me that my grandfather had passed away. I then told my family about the pregnancy. It was definitely not how I envisioned telling them. I ended up telling the rest of my family over the next few days. In some ways, I think it helped my family, especially my grandmother. At the same time, I wish I was able to share the good news on a happier occasion.

Re: Ugh telling FIL just got ruined
When I found out I was pregnant we were living with my parents. They were out when I took the test and when they got home I just blurted out "I'm pregnant." DH called his sister and his mom to let them know (his mom lives 3 hours away in PA). A few weeks later before I had even gone to the doctor DH's grandmother died. The night before see died his mom told all the family at the hospital I was pregnant. Also told the priest I was pregnant and included that in the homily during the service so if anyone didn't know they knew then. They were all so happy and it made dealing with the pain of losing a family member a little easier! I wouldn't feel bad.
