UPDATE: help me give our bathroom a facelift!
UPDATE: So, the wall paper and towel bar are down. I have spackled and sanded and the light fixture is changed. Cabinet is ready to be put up and we are getting a black towel bar. BUT.... WE CAN'T AGREE ON A PAINT COLOR!!! I want BM Silvery Moon... Dh wants Paper White... I think White makes it look to Hospital like.... we are also putting up Black and white art and the cabinet and towels are black!
HELP!!!! I can take an update picture later and post it!
________________________________ where are all you with a good decorating eye?!
We are not looking to spend too much... veery minimal facelift... vanity, tile, tub, etc are all staying. There is a 5 foot mirror over entire vanity that we will also be leaving. Only the light fixture will change over it!
The plan is to take off wallpaper and painting. Replace light fixture (I will take another picture later so you can see what I mean) and put medicine cabinet without a mirror over the toilet.
We want to keep black accents in there cause that's all we really like with that color gray is the black and white ( we have black towels in there now)
So the question is what can I paint the walls? I was thinking a light gray and then doing some kind of black stencil work. Or white with black or gray rag painting faux finish
here is the bathroom and the cabinet we are thinking of getting (very small space so we are limited).
Tell me all your ideas!

Re: help me give our bathroom a facelift!
Since the tile has a color pattern variation in it, I would avoid a faux technique. Sort of like mixing patterns with clothing. I would go with a solid grey paint. Maybe a black or white (depending on the shade of grey) stencil along the ceiling.

good point, thanks! you think the black cabinet is too much? I feel like something needs to pop in that room... the white and gray are just so light!

A black vanity with a white sink would be awesome! Can you do a bowl style sink? I don't know what it's called exactly but it looks like a bowl that sits on top of the vanity instead of being sunken in.

If you are looking for grey paint colors, we just painted our entire apt in Cement Grey by Benjamin Moore and I LOVE it. I agree with keeping the wall color simple due to the pattern in your tiles.

The black cabinet would look nice, especially with black towels, and some black accents (stencils, soap dish, etc)

it would look awesome... but we are holding out to do the vanity until we gut and re-so the whole bathroom! It also probably have to be custom made because its a strange space! This i just a quick facelift.... Don't want to invest too much $ until I can get rid of the horrible tiles!

I like the black vanity idea... is it formica though? That's a bittch to paint.
Hmmm - I think if you paint the walls gray it will be too much gray.
I like your idea of white walls with a black stencil. But a modern stencil, not a damask or anything like that...

like $500, hopefully less... vanity light, walls and cabinet only. unfortunately the dreadful vanity has to stay. We are hoping in like 5 years to gut... so this is just a temporary update!

Re: help me give our bathroom a facelift!
Here's a thread with pics of my grey, white, and black bathroom: http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic.aspx?&P=1&ID=455986
The tile is in a similar idea to your tile, with the multicolor pattern going on, and it has the solid grey paint with the black cabinet and a lot of white. The shower curtain is also grey, with a white cross-hatch pattern in it, to coordinate with the tile shape.
