Try Mineola/the E.Williston Schools section. or e.williston/e.williston schools (taxes are just higher). E. Williston is also a great school district and really close to the LIRR.

Thanks to the PP who brought up the point of our price range not buying a updated, large home in Garden City and Rockville Centre. We really want a 4 bedroom home if possible since we want 2 more kids. Also, we would prefer to not have to update/fix the house.
We found houses on MLSLI that we liked in
Wantagh (mandalay section)
East Meadow
Merrick (Merrick Woods section)
Massapequa (Massapequa Shores)
You will find soome great homes in Massapequa Shores but the flooding they had recently should stay in your mind when looking. Many people have water damage and are looking to get away from the water.

I live in Port Washington. I love it. I lived in Douglaston and loved the commute and
PW isn't too far away. The town has a lot to offer, I think.

I"m in Wantagh and love it! RVC and Port Washington sounds like towns you might like.

Carle Place, or Westbury with Carle Place school district. Some parts of Westbury go to the East Meadow school district, which I believe is pretty good too. 45 min to Penn Station on the LIRR

and flood insurance is insane ... if you can get it

I would live in Merrick Woods in a heartbeat. The taxes are a little high for us but we love the area.
