We got 0-3 months because we were cheap. I wasn't going to spend $30 on an outfit the baby would wear once. We bought a boy and a girl outfit and I returned the girl one next time I went to the mall after I delivered.

Newborn.
Unless you have a 10 lb baby, a newborn size outfit will fit. Not something like Gerber brand though - those run really small. But Carters or BabyGap etc. outfits run better and will definitely fit a newborn. I also don't like seeing a brand new newborn with clothes that looks swimming on them.

I'm getting newborn, with ds1 I had 0-3 and it was SO BIG! Ds1 was 6 pounds 12 ounces.

Depends how big the baby is. Hve they given you an estimate?
Dd 1 was 8,6 and wore 3mths right away, though a bit big on her, she could've gotten away with 0-3, but she never wore any "newborn" sizes.
Dd2, however, extremely small (5,7 @ 39 wks) was in preemie and newborn.

0-3.. ds was almost 9 pounds when born so it was only slightly big and he still got some wear out of it.. I'm sure this ds will be the same way so going with that size again.
