Steakhouse on Cruise ship
Has anyone been to the steakhouse on a cruise ship and is it worth the extra cost? Thanks.

Some of them have been really great, it depends on which one on which ship.

Is Cagneys on NCL or RC, I can't remember?
I think its totally subjective. We went to the NCL steakhouse, and it was the same as if I would have gotten a steak at TGI Fridays. Better than their 'free' food but still not really worth the extra charge.
The steak served in the french restaurant was much better. Not sure if I just got a crappy piece of meat in the steak house, or what but not worth more than 10 bucks.

Ive been to the steak restaurants on Princess and Celebrity and they were DEF both worth it. For 25-35 per person we got a meal that would have cost at least 250-300 in the city/LI and it was delicious!

We also went to Cagney's on our last NCL cruise (on the Jewel). I don't eat steak, but the 5 other people that I was with seemed to like it quite a bit. I ordered a vegetarian casserole dish that was to die for...I often order veg options at restaurants, but I didn't know that veggies could taste so good

I've been to 2 Steakhouses on Carnival -- on the Dream & on the Miracle. Both spectacular IMO. From the service to the food, DH and I both thought it was well worth it for $35/pp.

My favorites are the Lobster Bisque as the starter, the Lobster as the main course, and the Chocolate Sampler (not sure if this is the correct name for this) as the dessert. The chocolate dessert is TO DIE FOR, IMO.
Service is outstanding as I wrote in my previous post. They even send out an Amuse Bouche (sp?) either before or after the Starter.
It's seriously so much food, you will waddle out!

Re: Steakhouse on Cruise ship
I went to cagneys on NCL jewel last may and to be honest, I didn't think it was worth the money. I expected a Ruth Chris type steak and def didn't get that. NCL has very mediocre food in the main dining room and I believe it's bc they prefer you spend extra money in the specialty restaurants. It's really a shame and the one thing I dislike about them.

Must be the ship. I was on Jewel in May and it wasn't worth the money.

Re: Steakhouse on Cruise ship
We find it worth the extra expense. But last time in Cagneys we also added the lobster tails and they sucked. We had lobster the next night in the main dining and it was so much better. I guess like anything else, it can be hit or miss. But I think the nicer atmosphere is worth it in and if itself.
