are short cycles good or bad?

My cycle is 24-25 days. I would say that is on the short side right? I feel like in a calendar month I can get AF twice sometimes!! It leaves such a small window to successfully BD!! My pd lasts a good 7 days (between spotting & full flow) so that really only leaves 2 weeks until I get AF again!!

It’s very frustrating!! I’m trying to think positive...that it means even if we don’t conceive in those 2 weeks that I can try again sooner. But I’m wondering if the shorter cycle and frequency of AF can be bad? Especially since we haven’t had any success yet?

from what i read, I believe what matters is the length of your luteal phase....it should be from 12-15 days long.
if its shorter than 10 days it may be harder to conceive

thanks! Since i don't temp or use OPK's i really don't know when i ovulate to determine my LP to know if it's short or not...I'm going to try check CM this month to see if I can determine when I O.

I would definitely use OPKs next cycle and I'd probably start as soon as AF goes away. Then you'll have a much better idea of what's going on. There's nothing wrong with a short cycle. I think a lot of us would prefer a shorter cycle so the waiting doesn't feel like an eternity!!!!

Short cycles aren't good or bad. They're just short. Also, your "window to conceive" is the same as anyone else - an egg is there for the same length of time, regardless of how long your cycle is.

If you're every other day during your fertile window then you're covered. GL!

Assuming your LP is a normal length (11+days) short cycles are good b/c they give you extra opportunities to try. Everyone's "window of opportunity" is the same, but you get more of them than a woman with a 35-day cycle.

With a LP of 14 your cycle is perfect. Just start BDing after AF leaves and do it every other day until you know you've Oed.

Thanks everyone!

I don't know how I feel about starting OPK's yet though...DH and I just said we would stop BCP and see what happens. Its only been 4 maybe 5 cycles . I'll give it one or two more cycles of trying and then start using an OPK. I always just thought it would happen on its own ...so frustrating!

Im actually envious of anyone with shorter cycles. Honestly the longer your cycles are, the more this process is dragged out. Having a shorter cycle doesnt give u less of an opportunity at all. You O and the egg lives for 24hrs, whether ur cycle is 25 days or 45 days. I had a 27 day cycle this month, O'd on cd13 and it was awesome. Ive had months i don't O til cd23 - that wait is a freakin eternity. As long as your lp is a healthy length, your cycle length makes no difference and u wont know that really if u dont use opks.

its neither good or bad in terms of your chances... it is nice to have short cycles because it goes quicker.
