confused
drinking last night to celebrate nye got me thinking... Doctors seem to say you should start prenatal vitamins asap (even before pregnant) bc it helps the development of the baby but they also say you can drink and do whatever during the 2ww and until some other point (not sure how many weeks it is) when it starts sharing blood with the mother. so if its not sharing blood with the mother, why starts prenatals so early?
aside from that, my main question is... does anyone know what the week is that the baby starts getting nutrients from the mother? (6 weeks? 8 weeks? )

Re: confused
I think the prenatals have more to do with your body's absorption of folic acid to prevent spina bifida. Research shows that you're better off taking it before you get pregnant. Everyone seems to go by 6 weeks for sharing with baby, but I was always careful in my 2ww because I'm just crazy like that. Do what you're comfortable with.

Re: confused
the baby is still on a yolk sac come 9 weeks- your blood starts flowing through the baby at 6 weeks. The reason to start prenatals earlier is to help yourbody be prepared for pregnancy. If you dont have certain things ready to go, the baby will suck you dry of them. THE pnv also make your hair and nails really nice adn strong- so why not..

Re: confused
the prenatals are for your body, nothing to do with the baby until several weeks after conception.
