Chandelier in the kitchen?
Yay or nay? I am thinking I will put a chandelier over the island in my kitchen and pendant lights over the peninsula.
Thoughts? Anyone have one? Would love to see some pics.

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
I love a chandelier in the kitchen but my kitchen designer talked me out of it. How high are your ceilings? It sounds like we are doing a similar type of renovation.

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
I LOOOOVE chandeliers. I'm obsessed and have 4 so far.
I have one in my kitchen, but it's not a traditional chandelier. Then again, I'm pretty untraditional.
What is your style?
This is what I have in my kitchen over my table. It's not for everyone.

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
more ideas for you = especially if they go over an island, I prefer the rectangle-shaped ones. I think it looks very neat and streamlined.

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
Secret why did your kitchen designer talk you out of it?
Ladybug-LOVE the one over your table so unique! Where is the rectangle crystal looking one from. I like that alot.
I am more on the traditional side of decorating. We have a center hall colonial and I decorate it in a traditional sense. Our kitchen opens into a great room which will be more on the cozy side. But I like the idea of dressing up the kitchen a bit with a chandelier.
We are doing Maple cabinets with a butterschotch glaze and the island is a cherry with a dark Java glaze. I haven't picked backsplash and countertops yet. I can only obsess about one thing at a time!!

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
He felt that it is too heavy looking over an island especially when because I have eight foot high ceilings. We also have a center hall colonial. The kitchen cabinets are custom with a hand painted finish...cream colored basically. The island is 7 feet+ and an expresso color. The kitchen also opens up into a family room. I had french doors put in both rooms which open up to a large brick patio.

Re: Chandelier in the kitchen?
I think they look good if you have the ceiling height for them. As for style, that is completely a personal preference. We have one over our kitchen table.
