Those of you that got a bfp.......
did your re give you any advice on what to do/ not to do in your first trimester?
When I ask the nurse this morning she looked at me like I had two heads.
She told me to get a book. Really
This is my first pregnancy. I was under the impression that the first trimester was superrrrrrrrrr important. I really thought a doc would tell me about dieting, what teas to drink or stay away from, splenda, coloring roots. etc.
If this in normal for them not to tell you anything please let me know.
TIA

Re: Those of you that got a bfp.......
My RE never gave me any advice when I got my BFP's, but I had already had the pregnancy books for a year, just waiting to crack them open Your OB or midwife is who usually talks to you about that kind of stuff, but if you would like me to answer specific questions you can FM me (I have an 18 month old DS and I read a LOT of books)

Angggggggggg
I was so p isssed when she told me that.
Then I got you can wait to see the RE but it will be a long wait.
Maybe they are waiting for my beta to show that I'm preggo.
At what point should I make a stink about the re not dealing with me. I'm angry

Re: Those of you that got a bfp.......
That was rude of her! My re went over everything at my first sono visit but it was more me asking questions then them volunteering info to me. After I was released to my OB he went over the do's and dont's with me. Congrats!

Re: Those of you that got a bfp.......
I will say she wasnt rude at all. She suggested what book to get but I was like
I just assumed the point of an re is to not only get you preggo but to keep you preggo and to do what's best for the baby.
Maybe I'm just stressed abot waiting for my beta

Re: Those of you that got a bfp.......
Foods to Avoid:
- Raw Meats and Seafood including sushi - all uncooked and rare meats and seafood should be avoided due to high risk of listeria and salmonella poisoning.
- Deli meats including hot dogs - these deli meats might be contaminated with listeria bacteria which may result in miscarriage or even a stillbirth. It's safe to eat deli meats if you reheat them until steaming hot.
- Refrigerated smoked seafood - for the same reason of listeria contamination. It is safe if they are contained in cooked dishes. Canned and shelf-stable versions are safe to eat.
- Raw eggs - raw eggs may contain salmonella. Some Caesar salad dressings, mayonnaise, homemade ice cream and custards as well as Hollandaise sauces may be made with raw eggs. It is best to check with your server in a restaurant; if in doubt, it is best to avoid it. In addition, unpasteurized eggnog should be avoided.
- Fish high in mercury - avoid high-mercury fish such as Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel and Tilefish. Also limit fish intake to no more than 2 servings per week.
- Soft cheese - avoid the following soft cheeses: Feta, Brie, and Camembert cheeses, blue-veined cheeses, queso blanco, queso fresco and Panela. They are safe to eat if they are labelled pasteurized.
- Refrigerated pâtes or meat spreads - for the same reason of listeria contamination. It is safe to eat the canned or shelf-stable versions.

In general I found that BABY CENTER has a lot of wonderful info. I didn't get the do's and don't until my first official appointment.
I never followed the above food precautions to a T. I did things in moderation and ate cold cuts from reputable places.
I had my hair fully highlighted in my 6th week and and again last week. I was told my dr that they were more concerned about me getting sick from the fumes then hair color damaging the baby.
Good luck! (edt to fix link)

My RE didn't but my OB did.
Your OB should give you a package of info.

My RE didn't go over that until my first sono. Then my OB went into more detail at 9 weeks.

same here, but i asked the RE when i had questions. dr. B is very accessible so it was never a problem. i would just email him.
once i was out to eat when he called me about some meds, i asked him if i could order my steak medium rare. first he said no, then he said "actually order it medium rare. then tell them to put it in a container, then in a bag. then bring it to me."

Re: Those of you that got a bfp.......
If you are dealing with an RE they may not give you too much info until after sonogram with heartbeat. To them that is when the pregnancy is really confirmed even though you may have a positive beta.
