I want to get new makeup, so I am going to ask for some gc. Which should I choose?

Unless you are already a loyal MAC fan, I'd say Sephora. So many more options. They often have sales and special offers if you order online. Free samples, etc.

I find the staff at Mac to be sooo helpful and I love their makeup (except for Mascara).

I don't know about mac, but sephora is awesome about returns. If you try something and use it for a few days and hate it, they will take it back. just hold into your receipts.
Oh and so is ulta.
