MAC, Sephora or Bare Essentials

I rarely wear makeup - when I do I try to apply eyeshadow (but I don't do a great job at it), mascara and lip gloss...

I wanted to know where can I go to get the basic supply to apply makeup and a quick tutor lesson on how to apply?

MAC! They showed me how to use foundation and powder to cover up my breakups perfectly.

Are you looking for just those items, or did you want to expand to foundation, conclealer, powder, blush, etc?

Mac is great for eyeshadows & lipgloss. Their foundations get mixed reiews.

I think the people there are more knowledgable than the staff at Sephora, but you have to go when it isn't crowded if you really want a lesson.

At Sephora, it really depends who get and I suspect sometimes they are pushing a certain brand that week, so their opinions may be biased. (JMO)

Also, they have so many different things to chosoe from, I don't think they can possibly know enough about all of the products & if you are a beginner, it can be overwhelming to start there on your own.

Sephora does sell Bare Essentials though, if you want to try that out.

You could also go to a department store & pick one brand and the person a the coutner will help you & if you don't like everything they use, you can try another counter.

It depends on what store you go to, as to what counters they have but, Mac, Laura Mercier & Clinique are good places to start.

Re: MAC, Sephora or Bare Essentials

Thank you all for the responses...

I think to get the best "look" I should get at least foundation and blushChat Icon

I really don't know what I would need.... It's definitely time I start wearing makeup because I look TIRED! But I want it to be easy to do every morning - because with a toddler at home that I have to take care of before getting to work there isn't too much time ....soon to have a newborn and toddler. If you don't normally wear it, I'd suggest Bare Minerals - go to Sephora they have everything you can think of.

I adore MAC makeup, but their artists tend to get a bit crazy even when you tell them 'natural' - I can never replicate what they do ........

like i wrote in my other post, i went to mac as a makeup virgin. the girl had sick makeup on and i was afraid that she'd make me look like a drag queen. but she did it all very natural!

i've been to sephora and mac and i think mac ppl in general are more knowlegable. (and some have better taste)

I do prefer Sephora because I feel like it's a bigger selection, but I do love MAC too.
