I was wondering if anyone can tell me about Westbury and/or Plainview?

How are schools in either town?
Is any part of either town better than another?
How are the LIRR lines to Penn?

Any other info that you'd like to share, I'd love to hear.

I have family that lives in Westbury. They are in the East Meadow School District and live in the Salisbury section which is south of Old Country Road. Their specific area has a lot of split levels and run anywhere from the 400's and higher. I really like their area. I've been to areas north of Old Country Rd. and they aren't even close to being as nice. IMO anyway. Not sure about the LIRR as I've never taken it from there. I think it's a small station though at least from what I've seen.

Plainview is a very nice area although I'm not as familiar with the sections. I don't believe there is a LIRR station but could be wrong. I think the schools are rated well.

Westbury in Carle Place schools is very nice. West of Ellison and north of Old Country Road.

we are in Plainview and we love the area! Plainview-Old Bethpage SD is very well rated. Not sure about the trains though.

I know both of these areas very well. Westbury (Salisbury) is really nice. East Meadow schools- MAKE SURE YOU'RE IN EAST MEADOW SCHOOLS over Westbury schools. You have Hicksville train station which is closer to you than Westbury I think. Ve

Plainview is nice. High taxes, excellent schools. No train stations. The neighborhood closer to the South Oyster Bay Road side is probably not the nicest part of Plainview. But you are in the school district which is great. This side tends to be the least expensive part of Plainview.

Regarding Plainview and LIRR - you could use the Bethpage station which is 5 minutes away. Part of Plainview is in Bethpage school district which is also very good.

A lot of people in Plainview use the Hicksville or Syosset train stations. Plainview is a great area -- the taxes are a bit higher, though, than other nearby areas (including Westbury).

Westbury has different neighborhoods, and the home values vary accordingly. You have homes selling for under $200K in New Cassel, and then if you go south of Old Country Rd., you have very expensive homes ($800K+) in the Salisbury Estates section, which as previous posters said, is actually the East Meadow school district. Also, the section in the Carle Place school district, as someone mentioned, has some higher value homes.
