How should she stay ahem errr "clean" ?
No offense intended with this topic.
Just wonder (since I am a guy) and know NOTHING about this topic.
My wife (back then was my girlfriend) had a UTI 2 years ago, and the doctor gave her antibiotics and told her that to prevent it, she needs to shower before and right after sex.
I assume the before is to make sure the area is clean and right after is to make sure no germs stay in there.
So right after our private time, she goes and takes a shower and scrubs down below.
So now I have a couple of questions:
1. I heard that after our private time she is supposed to stay on her back with a pillow below her butt for 30 minutes.
So that means no shower.
After the 30 minutes is she allowed to go shower and scrub below?
2. Also...does she need to start wearing panty liners afterwards?
I assume my stuff will leak back out eventually?

actually, its less about being clean ( all she has to do is try to pee before and after), no need for an entire shower... or maybe get the feminine wipes. She needs to change other habits. Wear plain cotton underwear, take acidophilis/and or cranberry pills. 90% of the time its because the medicine didnt work not because of being dirty...
ETA: also having to sit with her butt in the air is a completely personal decision and ive gotten pregnant 3 times without doing that...
ETA: sorry, i thought you said shes been getting them for 2 years, not that she had one 2 years ago... if its not a chronic thing then there is no need for showers.

I suffered from recurring UTIs due to a kidney disorder. I also was told to make sure I pee right after DTD. I always did this and have gotten pregnant 2x.

Ang is absolutely right. Its not about cleanliness but rather about wiping habits (wipe from front to back), wearing cotton panties and making sure she drinks plenty of water and cranberry juice regularly. Some women are more prone to attracting the bacteria then others. Cleanliness helps but its not what's causing it.

I answered your 1st question in my original post. She can wear liners if she wants. Ive never had leakage after i went to the bathroom.

I think that perhaps your questions should be directed to her GYN because I have never heard anything about scrubbing your vag, I don't think that would be a good thing. And as far as your sperm coming out, yea it happens, but women have discharge all the time. She should do what she's comfortable with.
Again, let her go to the GYN because personally I think you're going a little overboard with the cleaning and might be doing more harm than good.
ETA:
the pillow thing is an old wives tale, 30 minutes with your legs in the air  again, go talk to a dr because you're getting misinformation somewhere and since I don't think any of us are drs you're better off asking a pro

I have always gone to the bathroom immediately after the deed, and whatever is going to come out, comes out then. No need for anything else after, nor have I ever heard about showering before and after sex.
I've never stayed in bed for longer than a few minutes after, and certainly not with my legs in the air....and I'm 6 weeks pregnant today

Like I said, Im a dude, I don't know anything about this stuff.
As for the pillow thing, I read that here, and to my male brain, it makes sense.
Pillow under butt = keep my "stuff" up near where its needed
afterward = you're vertical so gravity will pull the "stuff" downwards .
But hearing from you all that the afterward is not a concern, since I guess it mostly stays up there.

It's not a problem that you're "dude" I think it's commendable that you're interested and taking an active role in participating, I was just thinking some of your questions were a little, odd (for lack of a better term) and based off hearsay rather than fact and research which is why I suggested seeing the GYN to quell your concerns. They would be better to dispel or confirm some of the things you're questioning or concerned about.

Showering before and after is a little overboard. Especially if it was a one time thing.
The biggies:
Wipe front to back
Cotton underwear
Don't sit around in wet bathing suits
Pee after sex
If they are chronic, avoiding irritants like caffeine might help.

imo she does not need to shower just clean up after..and def pee
i dont buy into the whole legs up after but people swear by it
and i dont use liners after..long as she cleaned up nothing should be falling out
