Please HELP me!!!
I don't know what to do. My DS is 5-1/2 months old. He has never fallen asleep in his crib on his own, he needs to be rocked or nursed and then put into his crib-- which I am fine with -- but in the past week he has just started doing this thing where when I put him down in his crib he immediately wakes up and starts to cry. It doesn't matter how long I wait to put him down -- whether he has been asleep only 2 mins or 20 mins he does the same thing. When I pick him up again he falls asleep in minutes, but if I go to put him down he wakes up again. I am losing my mind.
Has anyone's baby done this? How did you get him to stop???

Re: Please HELP me!!!
Ryan still does this if we go through a "stage" where we sleep together- or I let him sleep in my arms...
When I wanna break it- I let him CIO...
Of course they are gonna cry- who wants to sleep alone in their crib when they can sleep in their mommys arms???

Re: Please HELP me!!!
Do you have an aquarium or something musical that can play for a little while?? I hit her aquarium everytime I put her down. I think the music soothes her. I also have a CD player in the nursery with Enya. Sometimes I put her down crying on her belly and tap her butt and it seems to sooth her and she falls asleep. There are times I'm standing there a good 5 minutes tapping. Mommys arms are always going to be preferred. He's smart now and knows whats going on

Re: Please HELP me!!!
Unfortunately, he's going to have to learn how to soothe himself to sleep and not rely on you. It's different for every baby and he needs to figure out what works for him (with a little help from you, of course). We also have a couple music things in the crib, and a nightlight (if we forget to turn it on he does not sleep). Sometimes he'll still wake up crying so we go in, give him a hug and kiss, lay him back down and rub his back. Sometimes they just need to see mommy. It may involve some crying which is really tough on you, but he will figure it out.

Thanks for the post. I'm trying to figure out how to avoid your situation but can see myself going down the same road. I tend to hold mine until she falls asleep.
