missing work, what do you say?
I was just wondering, with IF treatments have you let your boss know about what is going on? Or what do you say when you have to miss work due to any type of treatments? I am just worried because I have been using the "I'm gonna be late b/c of a doc appt" excuse, but they will ask me what is wrong, etc. and i have to keep brushing it off saying everything is fine. So far I have just done IUI's but I wonder what will happen if I have to move onto IVF where there is more doc visits involved.. so was just curious..

Re: missing work, what do you say?
I'm full of execuses or I just brush it off. I'm on my second cycle of IVF (never made it to retrieval for the first, but made it to the day of retrieval and then it was canceled) and I've been late a bunch of times. Towards the last week of stimming with IVF, you're there just about everyday. I try to get the earlier appts but if I can't I just say there was traffic or I wasn't feeling well or I had to wait for some repair guy to come. Now that we just got a puppy, she's been my latest excuse. If someone tries being all nosey, i just switch the convo to them and let them talk about what ever it is that they want. Thsi usually works. I'll compliment their hair, make-up, outfit, tie, etc....
EDT for typos sorry

Re: missing work, what do you say?
In the middle of my first round of IVF I decided to tell my boss b/c hiding it was causing me a lot of stress. Also during IVF you need to miss a full day for the egg retrieval and then, depending on the clinic recommendations for bed rest, 1-2 days for the embryo transfer. These procedures are all on short notice. Of course it depends on your particular job and your relationship with your boss. Other people I know who have gone through IF treatments preferred to keep it private, because having other people knowing about it would cause stress.
Good luck

Re: missing work, what do you say?
I use the "train was late" way too often. I was thinking if I ever move on to IVF I would take my boss aside and explain further to her. Not that I would be going for IVF but, that I was going through a bunch of medical treatments and if need be I would make up the missed time by staying late.
