What did you do when you first came home?

What did you do when you first came home from the hospital? I remember when my mom and dad brought my baby brother home, everything seemed so odd. Everything was so different...I watch bringing home baby and it makes me wonder, what we will do first when the baby comes into the house. What did you do?

Stare at her and think how did the hospital let us take her home. Shouldn't we have to return her somewhere??? It's totally wierd, you have all the stuff put together and ready to go and them BAM you're actually using it......A great wierd though

I remember placing the infant seat on my kitchen floor (he was sleeping) and being like now what??? and being like oh my god - I can't believe he is ours.

We walked into the house together, put the car seat on the coffee table and just started at her.....until she moved or woke up
I remember being glad to be home - i couldn't wait to shower and get myself organized again.....

Got Molly settled and then went to sleep. I was still recovery from the surgery. My moms came over and did laundry for me and made sure we had dinner in the house.

Joseph came home a week after he was born. I remember changing him on our brand new couches (delivered the same day as him). He started to pee & scream bloody murder bc he had just been circumsized. DH was yelling "The couches! The couches!" I said "We have a stain warranty - get me more wipes!"

When Maddie came home it was tough because DH had the bright idea of bringing Joseph to the hospital so we could come home as a family. So I had to deal with a newborn & a toddler that barely saw me for 2 days. I was just looking at pictures the other day of Maddie's coming home day. I'm carrying the diaper bag, the car seat & holding Joseph's hand. DH took the picture. I looked at them & said "I just gave birth. You think you could have carried the diaper bag?"

For the most part, we just stared at them in awe.

We put Caiden on the stove in his carseat (he was sleeping) and let the dogs sniff him like crazy and just stared at him and said now what? It was really funny and surreal. All you think is wow... we made that! It's definitely weird at first. You can't believe it's yours! It's an amazing feeling... enjoy every minute of it!!!

Bella came home about 8 hours after I was discharged at like 7 o'clock at night so there wasn't a huge crowd waiting for us, which was good. My sister was there, which was great because her, DH, and I had shared the birth together and this was another great moment.

We kind of just hung out for a bit before my sister left and then it was like 10 pm and DH and I were dozing on the couch...Bella started to cry and DH said he would get her even though he didn't move and kept his eyes closed. I was in a lot of pain still and very swollen from the after-effects of Pre-e, besides the fact that it was Sat night and I hadn't slept since Wed.
I got up and told him to go to bed, I took the 10-6am shift and he got up and I slept from 6-1pm...heaven-ish.
He told me how tired he had been um hello, I just gave BIRTH!!! But it was the beginning of a good routine we had for the first few weeks to get sleep. I would stay up from 11pm-6am and do the night feedings and he would take the 6-12pm shift....it IS a big adjustment, we kind of just rolled with it

My mom and dad were at my house waiting for us. We took her out of her seat and put her in her PNP on the first floor and we all stared at her til she woke up.

For a good week or two, Gianna spent her sleeping and waking hours in our arms, and our parents arms.

With my first, we pulled up to our house and looked at the big stork on the lawn...and cried. It was such an emotional moment. (I'm crying right now and it was almost 5 years ago)!

With my 2nd, we came home to my older son and my parents who were watching him. We took alot of pictures and DH and I just stared at each other and said, "Wow...we have 2 kids!"

Very surreal!

When I brought one son home, it was very bittersweet since we had to leave our other son there.

When we got home our paretns came over and we all just stared at him, lol.

When we brought our other son home we were in a bit of a daze since his feedings weere so messed up from waiting to be circumsized, and we were so worried that he was eating ennough, that I was relieved to be home but also scared that we shuld have let him stay a bit more. It took a few days toget into a good routine, but we did stare at them together alot.

We actually did a lot of staring also..
then because I fet fine I went to the store and got stuff for the house.. lol

Swaddled him and put him in the bassinet to gawk at him. DH and I had a good cuddle/cry and then I started being a mommy.

This time around ??

We put him down and became full time body guards

Although his brothers love him, we still have to keep a close guard on them and cant turn our backs for a second.

They mean well but a pat can turn into a poke and placing a toy near him can easily turn into chucking the toy, a touch a pinch, you get the idea now thats brotherly love

With the first one, pretty much the same as everyone else, you put the carseat down and just stare in awww. you look around you and dont know where to begin, you both try to do every little thing "as a team" and make sure everything is done just perfectly like "they said" in all those books we read

We all went to lay down in the bed for a nap. We were so tired.

Mine is not so touching.....

Dh went out to buy smaller diapers for her tiny hiney and I took a shower and left her with my mom, dad, and brother.

We put Julia in her swing and looked at each other and said "now what"?--lol
Then its time to take care of the baby and the time just flies by..........I can't believe shes 13 months already, feels like yesterday DH and I said that to each other.

I freaked. Thank god my mom and m-i-l and dh were with me! I felt so lost & actually wanted to go back to the hospital!

The day he came home was the same day as our annual Memorial Day parade so there was about 2 dz people at the house waiting to celebrate with us! (we insisted the party must go on)

Its not was bad as it sounds, everyone had a good time, took care of themselves (and Me!) and I sat in the chair all day watching Aidan sleep. He was a little angel, then as soon as the last person pulled out of the driveway all he ll broke loose! He still loves a good party to this day!

I made sure they were sleeping & comfy. Then looked at John & said "I'm taking a nap" And I did!

walked into my MIL's house, placed him in the bassinett to sleep, kissed my doggie, and just cried.. cried.. and cried some more...

I had a baby nurse for Sammy so I handed him over to her - and the entire family was there. Sara , I came home - took her out of her carseat and handed her to my mother. I wsa in ALOT of pain so I went to sleep
