The Boardwalk. It's beautiful, the lobby alone is stunning and the rooms are elegant and comfortable. I like that there is stuff to do on the boardwalk. It's also a short walk to Epcot for the fireworks at night.

Love the Yacht/Beach Club. Their pool is AWESOME with a sandy bottom (fake sand, but nice). Nice location on the Boardwalk, and close to Hollywood Studios and Epcot

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

We just stayed at Beach Club last month and it's my new favorite hotel, along with Animal Kingdom Lodge.

This! It's proximity to Epcot & Hollywood Studios alone is worth the stay. I love that you could walk/take the boat to Epcot and then ride the Monorail to Magic Kingdom (after walking across Epcot to get to the monorail station)

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

It's hard to pick a favorite and it really depends on what parks you prefer:

For being close to Epcot/DHS: Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club - I lump them all together since they're so close together. I like the rooms at Boardwalk better, but the pool at the Beach Club/Yacht Club better.

For proximity to Magic Kingdom: I love either the Poly or the Grand Floridian. There's construction going on right now at the Grand Floridian though so I don't know how it would impact a stay there. There's something really great about being on the monorail. I love the new Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary too.

Exactlly! Or what your goal is for this trip. Lots of pool time? Beach/Yacht Club. Food & Wine Festival? BoardWalk Inn. Relaxing vacation? Grand Floridian. Large room? Contemporary. Best club level space? Animal Kingdom Lodge.

My favorite Moderate resort is Port Orleans - French Quarter as I like the smaller size and ease of getting around, plus being able to use the amenities at its sister resort Port Orleans - Riverside.

Value resort? Probably All-Star Sports but it's a toss up.

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

It's hard for me to decide between Beach Club and Polynesian. I love them both for proximity to parks and the fact that you don't have to take the bus everywhere. I also love the theme at both. The Beach Club rooms are much brighter and as such felt bigger to me. They both also have the advantage of being very close to other resorts so you can easily get to lots of restaurants.

I've also stayed at Coronado Springs and really enjoyed that too. The grounds are gorgeous. And it had it's own bus service to there wasn't so much waiting and crowding.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong at any Disney hotel. Just pick a theme/location that appeals to you.

Good questions!

Ok, so this is a vacation for DH and I, our kids will be 3.5 and 2. My MIL is coming as well, but would be staying in her own room if it is not financially cheaper for us to stay in a 2 bedroom hotel room and share the cost.

We like a newer look to the rooms. We want to be able to get to the parks pretty easily with 2 kids and a double stroller (we'll fold it up). We won't have a car bc I'm not bringing 2 carseats with me.

We won't have a tremendous amount of pool time because we are all fair skinned and will burn to a crisp. The proximity to a particular park doesn't really bother me because I haven't been to Disney in close to 15 years, and we stayed off site then (when I was a teenager). DH, MIL and kids have never been there, I've been twice as a kid.

So far this is our list of hotels. And while I obviously want to keep it as cheap as possible, I'm not loving the value hotels. We want something that we will love to relax in, but also something that the kids will love.

Moderate:
Carribean Beach

Deluxe:
Animal Kingdom Lodge (Because of the animals-kids would love this)
Contemporary Resort (I LOVE the look of the rooms)
Polynesian Resort (We went to Hawaii on our honeymoon and love anything polynesian/flowery)
Boardwalk (Because it was recommended on here-although it does have a clown face the pool that DH was very concerned about Chat Icon)

I read about 'renting' DVC points towards a room online, but haven't looked into it enough yet.

Kimberly, I already told DH I was going to contact you, because while I love to be in control of vacations, my head spun yesterday reading everything about Disney.

OK - since the kids are young, I assume the park you'll be most interested in is the Magic Kingdom. In that case, I would say go for the Poly or the Contemporary.

If MIL is going, I would definitely look into either renting DVC points or booking a villa on a cash reservation - which would narrow your choice down to Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary or the Wilderness Lodge (not on the monorail but close enough to MK).

I've stayed at Bay Lake several times. It's a fantastic resort. The pool is great (and private), the proximity to the MK can't be beat (you can walk or take the monorail). It's also easy to get to Epcot (take the monorail to the Transportation & Ticket Center - then switch monorails to the one going to Epcot).

The two bedroom units there are GORGEOUS.

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is dark - really dark. If anyone has vision issues or prefers light and bright, you may want to avoid Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I think you'll be happiest at Bay Lake Tower for the space (rooms are bigger) and proximity to Magic Kingdom. We actually like the Bay Lake view better than Theme Park view because while you usually can't see the fireworks from your room, you're also not looking at a big parking lot!

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

we just got back- We stayed at The all star sports. It wasnt deluxe but it was cheap clean and really awesome! I had both kids- double stroller. The buses weren't great but they were fine. With yourself, your DH and your MIL you should be fine! Wherever you stay you will have a great trip!

Wilderness lodge! It is just so relaxing and an escape from the craziness of the parks.

I own Bay Lake and love it there too. Love the proximity to MK, of course, love the bigger rooms, love the views too!

I would choose BLT... but I have no desire to stay at AKL lol

I've stayed at a couple throughout the years with my family (beach club, yacht club, polynesian, pop century & colorado springs) and each one had their benefits.

When I started going with my DH, we stayed at the boardwalk, and we were sold. We actually got engaged there Chat Icon. I love the pool & bar, and the fact that it is in the center of the action on the boardwalk, and its a short walk to epcot.

For our HM, we stayed at the Yacht Club, and while we had a great time, I wish we would've stayed at the boardwalk again.

Re: Name your favorite Disney hotel and why.

Sounds like BLT would be great for you! Modern decor, spacious, and even though you say proximity is not a big deal, it's great to be close to MK, and have monorail access to MK and EPCOT, meaning you don't have to fold your stroller. That can be a blessing with sleeping kiddos at night.

When are you looking to go? DH and I may have extra points this year that we're looking to rent.

I wish I had known a couple of days ago! We just rented some points for the BLT. I got a nice deal and saved about 2k on the trip!

We only bought a few days ago, but since they backdated our use year we have more points than we're likely to use.

I've heard WL is beautiful.

For those of you who have been to/own at BLT, can you give me any info about the resort vs. other DVC resorts.

I'm questioning spending the extra money for this home resort.
