Advice/Opinions Re Laparoscopy (it's long)
I apologize in advance for the length, but I want to include a brief history and get your thoughts. I came off BCP 2 yrs 7 mos ago. I went to OBGYN rather quickly because I just had a feeling something was up. We were orginally diagnosed with MFI - low count and motility. After 7 months of trying we did a few cycles of clomid with timed intercourse. Nothing! then we did 3 cycles of clomid with IUI. Nothing! At that point we went to RE and started IVF in 2/10. IVF 1 was a BFN. We did a 3dt as we didn't have great emrbro quality. IVF 2 was in 8/11. I responded great and had great embryos. We did a 5dt. We didn't have any to freeze though. I got a BFP, but it was low. It doubled and tripled every two days so they were optimistic. We got to around 700, it was confirmed that it was in utero at 5w3d a sac was seen, but my levels dropped right after that. My RE deemed it an early miscarriage. He said that chemicals typically don't get to a beta that high. Waited one cycle and did IVF 3 in October. We had a perfect cycle. Transferred 2 perfect blasts and had a few to freeze. Got a BFP again, but it was low again. This time it went up very little and they deemed it a chemical pregnancy. Note - DH had well above normal post washed numbers with IVFs 2 and 3. That brings us to today. DH has appt with urologist and I have an appt with a hemotologist to get an RPL panel done, as well as, some immune testing. We are planning to do another cycle in March or April.
MY QUESTION: Should I look into a lap and/or hysteroscopy? A few people have told me that IVF bypasses endo so it wouldn't be worth it. But I tend to wonder if there is something going on in or around my uterus that is limiting implantation.
What are your thoughts?
TIA

Re: Advice/O pinions Re Laparoscopy (it's long)
For me, I've learned to always trust my gut. If you have reason to believe something is interferring with implantation and you'd like to further investigate, do the hysteroscopy to put your mind at ease. After two miscarriages, further testing is warranted and should be appropriate protocol. The hysteroscopy is non-invasive and a very simple procedure. Also it would give you more info as to whether you have polyps, fibroids, abnormal uterine cavity, etc. or anything else "inside." Most women experience symptoms and side effects of endo. A lap would be the only way to tell 100% if you do have endo and to remove the tissue. I wouldn't jump to the Lap procedure if you didnt' have to. HTH

Thanks so much for your response! I'm going to speak to my doctor about a hysteroscopy and take it from there.

Re: Advice/Opinions Re Laparoscopy (it's long)
I think you should def get an endometrial biopsy and a water sono done before doing another IVF cycle. Just to check what's going on inside ur uterus. I think getting the immune testing done is a good thing also with recurrent losses. As for the lap I'm not sure it will help.....I have endo and had one lap a few years ago and my RE is not recommending another lap even though I have symptoms the endo is back.

Thanks so much! I have the appt to discuss hysteroscopy and after hearing form you girls and reading up, I really think this is what I'm going to do. Never had a water sono, but I'm going to research it. As for the lap, I think I've decided not to do it. I have a few symptoms that could be endo, but they very well could not be as well. I don't have the more obvious ones. Also, the more people I talk to they said that people usually do the ivf to bypass endo and it usually is outside the uterus and affects TTC naturally. Thanks for your advice!!
