Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
When it comes to baby? Granted, DH has always been a nutrition freak for himself, and for me, which I've gotten used to, but now he's obsessing about what we can and can not feed Alex. We are raising her without meat, but now he doesn't want to feed her cheese because of all the hormones/preservatives/extra fat. So, now I've been on a merry-go-round hunt for a pediatric nutritionist to consult with so we (HE) can learn what we should be feeding her, but I don't understand why it has to be me spending half my day trying to locate a doctor when it's his obsession? Granted, I'm concerned about her nutrition and I don't want to feed her crap, but I don't think a slice of cheese here, or a jar of Campell's vegetarian veggies are going to kill her... anyone else, or am I a loner on this issue?

Re: Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
My DH has a huge problem with some of the jar food. He doesn't think that she should be having all of those preservatives - I agree to some extent. I'm just not as crazy as he is when it comes to healthy food.
I do agree with all the hormones being horrible for babies (and us, for that matter) - so we buy mostly organic meats & milk.
Can you call your insurance provider to find a pediatric nutrionist?

I did - earliest appointment is in December. So I called Dh and told him and he said, just call our pediatrician and get a referral. I told him, no, YOU do it since you're the once with the issue. I have a feeling we'll be having a little argument this evening about it

Re: Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
I have the opposite problem...DH hates most veggies besides corn and tomatoes and is corn really even a viable veggie...??
I will have to make sure she gets her greens...you should have seen his face when I picked up spinach the other day...
Right now, Bella eats bread, cheese, chicken nuggets, and pizza as her "big girl" food. She spits ravioli, peas, burger meat, etc at us...

Extra fat is very important for baby's brain development. If he is worried about the hormones, go organic, but fat is crucial. (Which is why they get whole milk, not skim!)

Re: Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
Its more me than DH (if only I took so much care with myself). I do not feed her any dairy that is not organic unless we are out and i have no choice. We get our milk from a local dairy. I try to always find all natural meat products as well. All of her jarred food has always been all organic except prunes which I could never find. I try to avoid any processed snacks and sugary junk all together. I just don't want to start the habit. We're also trying to switch ourselves over to healthier things as well so that we are a good example for her.
ETA: For fat I will cook her chicken in olive oil or make her pasta with organic butter, etc.

Re: Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
Well, for anyone interested, I was finally able to book an appointment with a pediatric nutritionist. We have to log in everything Alex eats for a week and then we meet with her on August 29th. In the meantime, I picked her brain, and she told me the usual stuff - organic, whole foods, no processed foods, if we can avoid it, and if we're concerned about dairy we can either feed her organic dairy, or feed her soy products that are fortified with calcium, vitamin c and vitamin d.
I'll let you guys know how the appointment goes in a few weeks!

Re: Is anyone else's DH a nutrition freak?
I have this argument with Dh all the time. He doesn't want to feed the babies any sort of meat or any table foods for that matter. If he was the one actually feeding them and preparing their food maybe I would listen more. But for now we are at a cross roads when it comes to what they can and can't eat.
