opinion needed - please help!! if you have an open floor plan in regards to kitchen/dining room...
does ALL of your wood need to be the same color? we have a high ranch so living room and dining room are connected, and we just renovated the kitchen, knocking down the main wall between the kitchen and dining room and making it a peninsula. now my kitchen is no longer an eat-in, we will be using the dining room on a daily basis. our kitchen cabinets are cherry... but the dining room furniture we love are basically an espresso brown. the dark wood of the dining room would match what we have in the living room... but will it look funny having the espresso dining room RIGHT next to the cherry kitchen?
pics: this is the cabinet color, and this is the peninsula. 
and this would be the dining room furniture color

I def don't think you have to "match". That furniture def will look nice next to your kitchen!

I think those colors look nice together. If you had light wood for your dining room furniture, that would be a different story.

My SIL has the same setup, with maple cabinets (cherry stain) and an espresso dining room set.
I also have the same setup but I have cherry cabinets & a cherry dining room set. If i could do it all over again I would do the espresso table.

I have the exact same layout! My kitchen has the same color cabinets and I have an espresso dining room right next to it. IMO, it looks great!!!!!! I can FM you a pic if you want! I have an island in my kitchen and I was able to find a dining room set that had chairs that were almost identical to the island stool backs so, although not necessary, I think that it is a nice touch to tie everything together.
My living room is almost espresso (its a dark dark brown) but not the rich espresso color of the dining room. Although I have a lot of dark wood going on in my living space I love the look. (floors, banister and front door is also wood!!)
