5' Shower - glass cost? - Updated with RAVE for Glass Express!
We went to Lowe's today to price out frameless glass doors for a 5' shower in our new bathroom. The guy helping us basically said we shouldn't do it because it's too $$$. Nevermind our budget is none of his business but just how much more expensive are the frameless glass doors than the sliding glass doors??
I've got calls into Sayville Glass and Glass Express but was wondering if anyone here had them installed recently?
TIA
ETA -- We modified the shower as it was built so we only needed a 36" shower enclosure (panel plus a door). I found Glass Express to be the least expensive ($835) for measurements, fabrication, and install. They installed yesterday and it looks great - will post pics when I can but for anyone worried that this place's prices are too low (which was me ), they're legitimate and followed through.

Re: 5' Shower - glass cost?
Lowes was pretty much useless when we were looking. They never gave us a price either. For a corner frameless, 75/76 high, 36 x 36 we paid 1800 at the shower door. We got 3 estimates and all were very close. The shower door in massapequa had the best customer service, we went wit them.

Re: 5' Shower - glass cost?
Do not buy from Lowes. Go to a glass and shower door store.
My sliders (purchased this summer) were around $700 with Hydroshield coating. I think the frameless was around $1200. Have to check paperwork for actual price (might have been less). Purchased from Glass Emporium in Kings Park. I highly recommend them. FM me if you want the info.

I don't know how big our shower is, I think it's pretty big.
We paid $1700 w/install.

Re: 5' Shower - glass cost?
Thanks a lot for the info. The quotes we're getting so far are $800ish for the framed doors and then ~$1300 for one panel and a door that total five feet.
Am I crazy to get frameless GLASS doors when I'll have three boys growing up in my house? Is it most unsafe type of shower I could get?

We used The Shower Door in Massapapequa, they really are great. Home Depot was impossible and the price was not much different for what we had been looking for.
