split level CAC quote
we were just quoted 8500 for a 2200 sq. ft split. 16 seers, Rheems system or a 16 seers Carrier Comfort system for 9k
what questions should i be asking?
this is for 1 zone, we are thinking about doing a 2 zone, would raise price slightly.
what did you pay for your system? how many seers? what type of house?

You probably want to know how many tons the system is. For that SQft, should need at least 4 tons.
As far as one zone / two zone... two zones will add to the price at least a few grand. While many people prefer two zones, I am personally not a fan of two zones as you will use double the electric if you ever have to run both zones at the same time (like if you have people upstairs and downstairs at the same time).
I have a 2400 square foot colonial and I could have easily went with two zones, but we did it in one zone as I would prefer to just have the whole house cooled at once than worry about downstairs being cool... upstairs being hot. It's not like if you have two zones the systems will work "less". They are either on or they are off. I have 18 seer which is very energy efficient. Rheem is a good brand.

We were quoted a similar price for a similar system. We have a 2500 sq ft colonial.
We went with a two-zone system in the end though.

that makes total sense about the two zones. I don't see any real reason to go with 2. we just want the house comfortable and since it is a split, we are up and down constantly so 1 zone should be ok.

Yes i'd do one zone with a split. I have a 5 ton 18 seer Rheem and the thing is a beast.

additional info
4 ton unit, 1 zone, 16 seers (rheems unit) 11 supply registers.
we have to re rock/paint whatever they open.
guarantee 20 degree temp differential + 50% humidity differential from outside max 95 degrees (is this normal?)
