Re: How much is YOUR lipa bill?

We have a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo with a finished basement. It has CAC. Last month our bill was $72. One of the bill's from this summer went up to about 89 bucks. That was it. Also, we have that balanced plan.

Re: How much is YOUR lipa bill?

i have the monthly budget plan... right now it is somewhere around $120/month... they base it on what you spent the year prior, and keep you on budget to keep you to as close to a zero balance as possible. so it might go up a few dollars here or there but nothing drastic. we have a hi-ranch, 4 bedroom 1.5 bath
eta- no cac, and our stove is gas.

We have a 3br/1.5 bath split, we have CAC, but we also have gas. With balanced billing our bills have been about $60/month.

Re: How much is YOUR lipa bill?

just got it today for 193. We are on balanced billing but it varies every month. IDK why, DH says they estimate based on the year before. At the end of the year, we owe or get some back. In this bill it said we'd owe like 298 the next one or the rest of the year or something.

Our kwh hours were greatly decreased from last year though.

It s a 3br 3 ba ranch, CAC and electric heat

Re: How much is YOUR lipa bill?

do you have an electric hot water heater? After numerous complaints and buying new appliances, we have come to the conclusion that this is the reason for our large bills. We were about 300+ for balanced at one point. We demanded a new meter and had our old one tested (of course it tested as perfectly fine). We stopped balanced billing. We are averaging 200-300. I am at a loss as to why we are soooo much higher than all our friends and family. We are looking into solar panels for the hot water heater.

Re: How much is YOUR lipa bill?

Our house is pretty much the same as yours, and ours is always under $200 in the summer, under $100 in the winter.
Did they actually come and read the meter, or is it estimated? If it is estimated then they are going by the previous owner's usage. We had the same issue with the gas bill when we first moved in and would have to call in the meter readings.
If the meter is being read, you might want to have them come in for an energy assessment to see what is using most of your power. Are the appliances energy star?

"L" ranch house, no central a/c but we run 4 window a/c units in the summer, about 1850 sq ft, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and our LIPA bill (balanced billing) is $165/month. It's been that same amount for basically the past three or so years.

I had one bill last year that was -$6 for the entire month..... Chat Icon Chat Icon

We average just under $90 per month.
I love solar panels..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: 3000 s/f house with CAC, and two DC that love electricity...

I figured out how much we use from LIPA, and how much the panels produce, and I produce about 2/3 of our power, so without the panels, we would be spending close to $300/month on average.

That's pretty awesome. Was it expensive to have solar panels put in?

3 bed 2 bath ranch, CAC, IGP. $188 every month - on that payment plan spread evenly month to month throughout the year. Our home is not well insulated, we also have high ceilings. Our pool is a nightmare. I could go on and on. One month when we werent on the plan our bill was $700... (that was when we first moved in)

Initially, yes, but after the rebates from LIPA, federal and state, it was down to about $19k. Full retail would have been about $60k. The ROI is about 12 years or so, maybe less if LIPA raises their rates. They have a 25 year warranty, so I'll wind up making/saving a huge amount of money in the long run.
