Help! I did something dumb!
Somehow DH & I both left a burner going on our stove last night and I didn't catch it until a few minutes ago when I walked in. It's a gas stove and my dog was home all day in the kitchen.
First off can I cook tonight? I'm scared the house is going to blow up or something if I light the stove I cant reach DH. And second will my dog be okay that he was home with the gas going all day?

Was the burner on with a flame or without? If there was a flame, you are fine ...luckily you did not burn the house down, but you can use it. If there was not a flame and the gas was just seeping out OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS AND DOORS NOW! DO NOT TURN THE STOVE ON! You should probably leave the house. Do you have a CO2 monitor in the house?

There was no flame, I opened every up and took the dog outside for a while. The CO2 monitor isn't going off. We microwaved dinner tonight. I still dont get how we both missed it this morning.

Does the house smell of gas? Why not call the gas co and see what they recommend?

Obviously, by now, everything is OK, but if your house is full of gas, don't even turn a light switch on. The spark from turning on anything can ignite the gas in the house. The CO sensor didn't go off, because natural gas isn't CO, so the detector won't go off.

How big is your dog? I know that while I was on vacation once, one of our dogs jumped onto the stove and hit on the gas. We weren't home, but luckily our tenant smelled gas and called the fire dept. They unscrewed the lock on our door and turned off the gas. I hope you are all okay!
