I'm going to St. Gerard's shrine!

I'm on a bus right now headed to Newark with a group of women (and 3 of their husbands they dragged along) to go to the shrine of St. Gerard. He is the patron saint of motherhood, and my mom "suggested" we go. 36 years old and she's still suggesting things. Ugh.

So.... Anyone have any experience with praying to this saint, or having someone offer a prayer on their behalf? Saying a prayer now....

Today is the Feast of St. Gerard i pray to him every day!
He is the saint women pray to when they are trying to conceive or expecting. Tell him I said hello

wow, I had no idea there was a shrine so close to home! He's the patron saint of motherhood and I've been praying to him for years. Did your mom tell you today is his feast day, I believe? I have a medal I wear around my neck and the prayer goes like this for anybody who doesn't know but is interested:

O good St. Gerard,
powerful intercessor before God
and wonder worker of our day,
I call upon you and seek your aid.
You who on earth did always
fulfill God's design
help me to do the Holy Will of God.
Beseech the Master of LIfe,
from Whom all paternity
proceeds to render me fruitful
in offspring, that I may raise up
children to God in this life
and heirs to the Kingdom of
His glory in the world to come. Amen.

my mom and aunts went today.. they wanted me to come but i couldn't make it

My aunt went and I have his card under my pillow for the last 7 months. Still not pregnant l

As much as I rolled my eyes (so much that they ended up in the back of my skull) it was amazing!
The whole reason we went is because it was the feast day, yep I knew. We made a full coach bus full of church members (a.k.a old italian ladies) and we went. The church, the cathedral, the mass... whole thing was amazing. 30 thousand people!

I brought something to donate to the saint, then they rubbed the little prayer cards on the statue and handed them to me. I then lit a candle and when the woman saw me getting emotional, she gave me some medals.

There are literally hundreds of baby pictures near the shrine, to thank him for his blessings. It was really touching.

Sounds like an amazing experience! Wish I could have gone - I'll have to make a trip there another time. Hope he answers all our prayers!!

I was struggling getting pregnant for almost 2 years. I read on here to pray to him and I did. My mom also got me a coin and a chain with his face on the end and a cross on the other that I keep in my pocket everyday. I said the prayer to him and that month was when my miracle happened. I hope it works for you too.

When I was trying for DS, a young lady here sent me a card of St. Gerard. It sat on my desk at work and everyday at work I prayed to st. Gerard. I did get pregnant.
