Anyone else get a sono EVERY time??
Every time I go to see the Dr. they do a sono - They do a Vaginal one to check cervix and then a belly one and do a thorough sono measuring belly, femur bone, heart, arms, legs, etc.. almost like a Level II
I guess I shouldn't complain..I get to look at the baby in 3D every time
but there is no such thing as an in and out apt there..it is like 2 hrs by the time I am all done!
like last week I went for my glucose test. I was excited this was the first pregancy I got to do right in the office..I found out I passed and was ready to leave...they they say...ok now we are going to go into the next room for the sono..WHAT?? I wasnt here for that?!?!
Just wondering if anyone else's doctor is so extremely thorough even when I am not high risk or have any problems..
This is my 3rd baby but 1st with this dr - I def did not get this with the first 2..

They always do a sono but it's in and out. Literally I am in there maybe 5-10 minutes.

No. I am jealous! I would love to see the baby at each appt, but I do understand that it is time consuming.

No - my practice only does one at 8w. They send you outside of the office to do the NT scan and Level 2 but, unless something is wrong or they suspect that the baby is breech - there are no other sonos.

My first two pregnancies were considered "threatened", so I had many more sonos than a typical pregnancy --- still, didn't have them every visit, maybe once every 4 weeks.
For this pregnancy, I had one sono at 8wks to date the pregnancy, then another at 12 weeks and Level II is scheduled for this Monday.
My cervix measured a little short at week 12 so if it's still a little short on Monday's visit, they said they'll do another sono at week 28 to check again.

ITA! I would love more sonos  I only get three. the initial one to confirm due date, the 12 week ultrascreen, and the 20 week

I don't think i'd last not having a sono at every appt.! I get one every time but it's not a long one. Just a quick one to check fluid and baby.

I sure DONT  but that would be awesome. I had a sono at 8wks, 12wks, 16wks and 20 wks I dont think the next one is until around 32.

Same here. Only 8 weeks was done at the OB's. The rest are done at the Peri. I had the NT Scan, Anatomy Scan and my next is around 28-30 weeks.

Not at every appointment when I was pg with dd, but I had a lot with the re and than when I went to the ob I had a lot to. At first because I was considered borderline high risk, and than later in my pregnancy because I had a shortening cervix. I felt really spoiled because I got to see dd all the time. I don't know if I'll get as many chances this time around.

I did w/ the twins bc they were twins.
This time I am as well, but only bc I am bleeding daily and they want to make sure the baby is okay.
If it's not for a specific medical reason, will your insurance approve it? I know mine denies every sono and the dr has to write to them and explain the medical reason and only then will they approve it.

For me, so far (at 14.2 weeks), YES!! However, I started with an RE so this may be a contributing factor PLUS DH aunt works at my OB office (and my MIL worked there for 18 years as well) so I know I'm getting preferrential treatment

I HOPE NOT!!! I wonder how they handle that with my insurance..I havent gotten a bill and I will be PIZZED if I do later on!!
Can they poss claim medical reasons for ALL their patients..I wonder how they get away with that!
