Insurance and anatomy scan

Anyone have a problem with the anatomy scan being denied (deemed not medically necessary after two normal sonos at 8 and 13 weeks)? Anyone have any success at filing an appeal? I had the same insurance with DC and didn't have this issue then. Apparently, all sonos in excess of 2 need pre-approval and then, only if "medically necessary." Such insurance cr*p!!

I know my insurance is the same way , but after 3. My doctor's office told me about the insurance company's requirements from the beginning. Maybe the doc's office can help you

My OB's office does sonos at 9 weeks (first appt), 12 weeks (NT scan), 20 weeks (Level 2) and then a growth sono later on. I have not heard anything about my insurance company not paying for them. Then again, they cover squat! so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't!

My office also showed me in 3D last time, even though I didn't request it. Of course the insurance didn't cover it, but I have yet to see a bill from my OB! I hope not! I didn't ask for it!

My OB's office mails a bunch of paperwork to your house along with general pregnancy info. In the stuff they mailed me, they stated that some insurance companies are now only covering 2 sonograms and to check with your insurance to see how many they cover. If they hadn't told me this, I would have had no idea! I just assumed these things are covered as they ARE medically necessary IMO. I would definitely call the insurance and then the doctor's office to see if they can help you.

I have Oxford and we were only supposed to get three ultrasounds... As long as the office called ahead and preapproved it, it was fine. I think I ended up getting like 7 sonograms??
